To pre-register, parents should call (201) 445-5350 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Those with last names beginning with letters A through M should call either Monday or Wednesday. Those with last names beginning with letters N through Z may call Tuesday or Thursday. Parents who call in will be scheduled for full registration and screening during the week of March 18. In order to be eligible for enrollment, children must be age five before Oct. 1, 2013. Church hosts financial seminar The deacons of Midland Park Christian Reformed Church will present a financial management seminar on Saturday, Feb. 2. The program will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will focus on biblical financial management. Certified Financial Planner Ken Johnson will lead the seminar. His topics include The Big Picture, Dedicating it All to God, Planning Your Spending, Giving as an Act of Worship, Saving and Investing, God’s Solution to Debt, and Enjoying What God has Given Us. Johnson has spent over 30 years in the financial services sector, and specializes in faith-based financial planning and advice. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple. Fans invited to ‘Pack the House’ The Midland Park High School Athletic Boosters Association is sponsoring three upcoming “Pack the House Nights” at Midland Park High School. The first event will be held Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. when the boys’ varsity wrestling team takes on Ramsey. The second event will be Feb. 7 at 4 p.m., when the girls’ varsity basketball team hosts Park Ridge. Fans will return to the school Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. as the boys’ varsity basketball team faces Emerson. There will be free admission for Midland Park students at these three home events. The high school is located at 250 Prospect Street in Midland Park. Assemblyman Russo hosts Super Bowl Party Assemblyman Dave Russo will host a Super Bowl Party on Feb. 3. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Brownstone located at 351 West Broadway in Paterson. Tickets are $75 per adult and $25 for a child. The cost for a table of 10 is $750. Register for preschool program The Midland Park School District is accepting applications for the 2013-14 general education integrated preschool program housed at Godwin School. This program for three- and four-year-olds incorporates the education of special education children with that of general education preschoolers, following general education curriculum standards. To be eligible, a general education child must be three or four on or before Oct. 1, 2013. Children will attend from 8:30 to 11 a.m. or from 12:20 to 2:50 p.m. five halfdays a week in accordance with the Midland Park school calendar. Current students will have priority for program registration. Students will be assigned to either the morning or afternoon session at the discretion of the district. Parents will be responsible for transportation. The annual tuition for the program is $2,700, either paid in full no later than Sept. 1, 2013 or in two installments with a $25 fee, due Sept. 1 and Jan. 1. Those registering students will need to provide a birth certificate, copy of immunizations, and proof of residency. This program is open to Midland Park residents only. Lions seek contributions The Midland Park Lions Club is seeking donations to support its sight-based and community charities. The club welcomes donations of any amount to assist with the following organizations and projects: the Association of Blind Athletes, Camp Marcella for Blind Children, eyesight and hearing tests on Community Day, equipment for the Midland Park Ambulance Corps, and the Midland Park Fire Department, food gift certificates distributed through local churches, large print books for the Midland Park Library, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Seeing Eye of Morristown, Lions Eye Bank, Saint Joseph’s School for the Blind, and scholarships for Midland Park residents. Lions host Corn Stalk Broom Sale After a long absence, the Midland Park Lions Club’s Corn Stalk Broom Sale has returned. Thrift shop opens for winter season The Community Thrift Shop, located in the lower part of the Midland Park Shopping Center on Godwin Avenue, is open for the winter season. Store hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and the first Saturday of each month are receiving days only. Receiving hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sixty member organizations benefit from the shop’s sales, including churches from several denominations in this area and other businesses.
