Register for kindergarten The Franklin Lakes Public Schools will hold kindergarten registration Feb. 5 through 8. Children do not have to be present during registration. Registration may be completed at the borough’s three elementary schools from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Parents of students who will enter kindergarten in September 2013 may register their children at their school of attendance: Colonial Road School, 749 Colonial Road; High Mountain Road School, 765 High Mountain Road; or Woodside Avenue School, 305 Woodside Avenue. Center to present ‘Living with Integrity’ Living with Integrity, the newest Jewish Learning Institute course offered by the Chabad Jewish Center, will begin Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. The center is located at 375 Pulis Avenue in Franklin Lakes. Packed with real-life scenarios, Living with Integrity challenges students to articulate their opinions, while providing practical tools and guidance culled from Talmudic Jewish wisdom to help navigate common ethical challenges. The course is designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, from novice to scholar, and is approved for 10.8 CLE (9 ethics) attorney credits. The course runs for six weeks and each session is 7590 minutes. The $99 fee includes a 150 page textbook and light refreshments. Frauwirth to present ‘Healthy Aging’ Dr. Howard Frauwirth will discuss “Healthy Aging” at the Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary’s Feb. 25 meeting. Learn about achieving total wellness through exercise, eating well, regular health screenings, medication management, and paying attention to mental and emotional health. Dr. Frauwirth, an internist with Valley Health System in Wyckoff, is board certified in clinical lipidology, and a diplomate of the National Lipid Association. Woman’s Club welcomes new members The Woman’s Club of Franklin Lakes, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of community, area, and national causes, welcomes new members. On Monday, Feb. 11, the club will host Heart to Heart at 11:30 a.m. Participants will hear about a Franklin Lakes family’s experience transporting gifts donated by the club to children and their mothers in Zihautanejo, Mexico. Gifts included pens, rulers, pencils, crayons, small carryalls, barrettes, combs, brushes, ribbons, and more. In addition, cash donations from the members allowed several impoverished families to purchase much-needed supplies. This meeting is a bring-your-own brown bag lunch; coffee and desserts will be provided. Bart D’Andrea will present a visual tour of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. D’Andrea holds an MA in fine arts and is a working artist, lecturer, and teacher at Bergen Community College. Coffee and dessert will be served. On April 18, Joseph Kasper, MD will present Positive Health. Dr. Kasper, a board certified internist, has been in practice for 19 years and is a member of the Saddle River Medical Group. Dr. Kasper received his medical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and is affiliated with The Valley Hospital. He is a Healthgrades recognized doctor.
