Seniors to meet The Franklin Lakes Seniors will attend the Saint Joseph Festival at Li Greci’s on Staten Island on Tuesday, March 26. The outing will include a cocktail hour, full luncheon, and a show. The cost is $44 for members and $54 for non-members. To reserve a spot, call Marie at (973) 513-9117. The seniors will meet on Wednesday, March 6 at the Senior Center located in the firehouse on Franklin Avenue and Bender Court. Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Membership is open to all residents age 62 or older; yearly membership dues are $5. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Woodside Avenue School located at 305 Woodside Avenue. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. D’Andrea to discuss MOMA collection Bart D’Andrea, a working artist, lecturer, and art teacher will discuss “Symbolism in Art: A MOMA Presentation” at the March 11 meeting of the Woman’s Club of Franklin Lakes. This visual tour of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art will be shown at the Franklin Lakes Ambulance Corps Building on Bender Court at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. D’Andrea’s paintings have been shown at The Old Church Cultural Center, the Westchester Italian American Artists Show, the Make Ready Gallery in Montclair, and the Kotinsky Gallery in Pompton Lakes. In 2006, he participated in a two-man show at the Bishop House in Saddle River and the Gotham Gallery in Manhattan. He creates abstract expressionist works using enamels and natural pigments on canvas. D’Andrea lectures monthly at Meadow Art and Design Studio in Fair Lawn and at artists’ organizations, adult education schools, and libraries. He holds a master’s degree in fine art with a concentration in painting and has taught at New York University, SUNY, the School of Visual Arts, and presently at Bergen Community College. He gives over 50 lectures on individual artists and art movements.

Go Green for Shamrocks! will be held Tuesday, March 5 at 4 p.m. at the library. This Saint Patrick’s Day themed program is open to children in kindergarten through grade two and will include stories, a craft, and a snack. Registration may be completed by calling the library at (201) 891-2224, online at www.franklinlakeslibrary. org under Calendar of Events, or by visiting the library during regular hours. Children ages three and older and their parent or caregiver are invited to drop by the library for the Crafts to Go program. Participants will create a unique craft between
2 and 5 p.m. on Fridays, March 1 and 8, April 5 and 12, and May 3 and 10. Registration is not required for this program. Celebrate Doctor Seuss’ birthday The Franklin Lakes Public Library invites families to Seussology, a birthday celebration in honor of Dr. Seuss on Thursday, Feb. 28. Currier’s Magical Mania will present a lively interactive program run by an extremely silly and very mischievous cat. Attendees may already know Thing 1 and Thing 2; now come meet Thing 3 and watch as he causes all kinds of mayhem. The program will begin at 4 p.m. Registration is required. The team also won the Big North Freedom Division; the Bergen County Championship with a 3-1 win over Bergen Catholic, the State Sectional title with 3-0 win over Morris Hills, and the State Semi-final with a 5-0 win over Mendham. In addition, the team was named the Bergen County Group 3-4 Team of the Year and the Record and Star-Ledger North Jersey Team of the Year. The team was ranked #1 in North Jersey by the Record, #2 in the state by the Star-Ledger, #1 in the state by the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey, and #25 in the United States by the Adidas/National Soccer Coaches Association. In the beginning, you will have to help your child plan and track the time each section takes. Work toward the goal of completing each section within the allotted time. It might seem like a hassle, but follow these simple rules and homework will be done faster and more accurately.
