Recreation code of conduct (continued from page 4) Any person suspended or banned from recreation activities because of a second violation for a period of 12 months must be permanently banned. However, the ordinance contains a provision that permits an appeal of the suspension or ban to the Code of Conduct Committee. The amended ordinance also contains a section that describes the purpose of the recreation and parks department and the director’s position. That section has been amended to require that the annual department budget be subject to the approval of the borough council and calls for the director to recommend and screen all potential program directors, league directors, and coaches, for approval by the Recreation and Parks Committee in order “to ensure the promotion of a fair, safe, and unbiased playing and coaching environment.” That section also calls for the director to ensure compliance with the recreation and parks code of conduct by effectively communicating and enforcing the code as appropriate. The ordinance is expected to be considered for adoption at the council’s public meeting on Feb. 19. F.J. MCMAHON
