Executive Director Joy Vottero recognized the positive impact the Y’s corps of volunteers has on this non-profit, social service organization. No one is turned away due to inability to pay. The keynote address was by Jon Simons, vice president of Donor by Design, who represents a lifetime of YMCA experience as a volunteer, employee, and consultant. “Time is the most valuable commodity,” noted Simons. “It is irreplaceable, finite,
and you choose to give it to this cause… that’s why the Y is strong.” Simon was followed by Y Associate Director Joyce Kwiatkowski who identified the causes, events, and programs that Y volunteers help make possible. Y Teen Leader Victoria DiPiazza and Y Veterans Committee volunteer Nick Ciampo also related their experiences of contributing to the organization. Volunteer Coordinator Tara Fallotico also spoke.
