Patricia A. Busch, nee Scully, of Franklin Lakes died Jan. 31. She was 85. She was a graduate of Mount Carmel School and Ridgewood High School. She was employed as an executive secretary to the president and owner of Aston B. Collins Advertising Agency in New York, New York. She was a past member of the Junior Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, and Social Services of Ridgewood. She was a member of the Ridgewood Ladies Bowling League and the Mixed Bowling League. She was a member of High Mountain Golf Club and former Ladies Club Champion. She is survived by her husband Walter R. Busch, her brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Deborah Busch of HoHo-Kus, her nephew Jeff Busch of Trumbull, Connecticut, and nieces Jeannie Hamlin of Totowa and Laura Robert Morris of Stewartsville. Joy Ellen Hartophilis, nee Weisberg, of Wyckoff, formerly of Elmwood Park, died Jan. 26. She was 50. She was a teacher’s assistant at the YMYWHA in Washington Township, and a supporter of multiple fundraisers for cancer research and education. She is survived by her husband Russell Hartophilis, her children Samantha Morgan Hartophilis and Andrew Tyler Hartophilis, her mother Sylvia Weisberg, mother-in-law Blanche Hartophilis, sisters-in-law Jackie O’Neil and Georgene Griffin, and five nephews. She was predeceased by her father Martin Weisberg. Arrangements were made by the Louis Suburban Chapel in Fair Lawn. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Richard W. Johnson of Wyckoff died Jan. 26. He was 62. He was an auto mechanic and the owner and operator of Steve’s Auto Repair in Midland Park for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Kyle of Wyckoff and Erinn Nicole Conn of Maine, one grandson, his mother Joan Johnson of Michigan, and his siblings Sharon Jones of Waldwick, Robert Johnson of Vermont, and David Johnson of Michigan. Russell Langfield of Wyckoff died Jan. 17. He was 60. He is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters Danielle Kovach and Nicole Salerno, one granddaughter, and his siblings Kenneth Langfield and Veronica Simpson. She is survived by her mother Candice, her maternal grandparents Lillian and Eric, aunts and uncles Kristie and Jorge, Carrie, Cody, Erik and Danielle, Brook and Tom, Luke, Sara and Walter, and four cousins. Arrangements were made by the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home in Fort Lee. Miriam Pohlmeyer of Pompton Plains, formerly of Wyckoff and Mahwah, died Jan. 30. She was 93. She was a teacher at Saint Elizabeth’s School in Wyckoff for many years. She was the first CCD director at the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Trish and son-in-law Mark Wechter, Donald, and Phillip, her son-in-law Gerry Tansey of Midland Park, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sister Virginia McIntyre. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent D. Pohlmeyer and her daughter Denise Tansey. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Helen S. Weber of Cooperstown, New York, formerly of Waldwick, died Jan. 28. She was 82. She was a member of the Waldwick Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a communicant of Saint Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and of Saint Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Cooperstown and served as a volunteer at the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She earned an associate degree to serve as a home health aide. She is survived by her husband Jack Weber of Cooperstown, her children Nancy Tallman of Fly Creek, New York, Christy Soell of Allendale, and Ron Weber of New Paltz, New York, eight grandchildren, and several cousins. Ronald Yovich of Wyckoff, formerly of Bergenfield, died Jan. 28. He was 58. He was a technical field service engineer for Fresenius in California for 20 years. He was a member of Hawthorne Gospel Church for 22 years. He is survived by his partner Michel Yovich, his son Joshua Yovich, his mother Stella Yovich, and his brother Bruce Yovich. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the music room at Franklin Lakes Middle School at 755 Franklin Avenue. Auxiliary plans events The Franklin Lakes Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will hear a talk about healthy aging by Dr. Howard Frauwirth on Monday, Feb. 25. The program will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Ambulance Corps Building on Bender Court. Learn about achieving total wellness through exercise, eating well, regular health screenings, medication management, and paying attention to mental and emotional health. Dr. Frauwirth, an internist with the Valley Health System in Wyckoff, is board certified in clinical lipidology, and a Diplomate of the National Lipid Association. Upcoming auxiliary programs will include fashion editor Heather Zwain’s March 18 program on how to update your look. On April 15, Kenneth E. Learn about NYC’s ‘Els’ Images of New York’s renowned elevated railroads, the “els” – a key part of the public transit system in the early to mid 20th century – will be shown at a free public screening on Sunday, Feb. 17. This 2 p.m. program will be held at Temple Emanuel of North Jersey at 558 High Mountain Road in Franklin Lakes. Action footage of the first-inthe-world Ninth Avenue El, the Lexington Avenue Line in Brooklyn, and the Myrtle Avenue El, another early Brooklyn line, will be shown. Library seeks donations for Operation Smile The Franklin Lakes Public will accept donations of new toys for Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s organization that helps treat facial deformities such as cleft lips and cleft palates. The library will accept jars of bubbles, small stuffed animals, small toy cars, coloring books, crayons, stickers, sidewalk chalk, toothbrushes, pipe cleaners, beach balls, bouncy balls, tennis balls, and other small toys or games.
