She had worked with the Social Security Administration. She is survived by her children Gina Barbara Lewis of McLean, Phil Ferraro of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and Thomas Ferraro of Davidsonville, Maryland, 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Virginia Bagot, her nieces and nephews Pamela Bagot, Valerie Bagot and Timothy Bagot, and dear friends Madeleine and Robert Stepanian of Rhode Island. She was a registered nurse, and was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York, and at SeaCrest Village Nursing Home in Little Egg Harbor until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of Saint Theresa R.C. Church in Little Egg Harbor. She is survived by her children Kathleen DVernay of Ramsey, Barbara Loftus of Wardsboro, Vermont, Terry Giegerich of Hewitt, Thomas Roach Jr. of Boca Raton, Florida, and Robert Roach of Mendon, Massachusetts, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was 89. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Class of 1946. She received an MS in library science from Rutgers University in 1967. She was the librarian at the School of the Holy Child of Jesus in Suffern, New York for two years and for over 30 years at Waldwick High School until her retirement. She was a member of the College Club of Ridgewood, the American Association of University Women, the American Guild of Organists, the American Church Union, the League of Women Voters, the Ridgewood Country Club, and Christ Church in Ridgewood. She had been a regent of the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City and of Christ Church in Suffern, New York. She is survived by her children Dr. Bruce W. Sloan, the Rev. Richard D. Sloan, Catherine W. Sloan, Philip E. Sloan, Marion Sloan Freeman, and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Walter F. Sloan, DMD. She is survived by her children Gail Sternitzke and Glenn Sternitzke, two grandchildren, and her sister Joyce Beacham. She was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Bowes MacCallum of Wyckoff died April 14. She was 78. She graduated from Brown University with a degree in English in 1955. She received a master’s in education and taught for nearly a decade in the public elementary schools in Wyckoff and Lake Forest, Illinois. She went on to a career in real estate, working with Murphy Realty and Coldwell Banker. She sang in the Saint Elizabeth’s Church Choir in Wyckoff and served as its recording secretary. She had been a volunteer for the Little Sisters of the Poor in Totowa. She is survived by her husband Douglas C.
