September 19, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 15 Mahwah Minutes ‘Gibson Bus’ will be at Mahwah Day The “Gibson Bus,” Gibson Guitar Corporation’s traveling tour bus, will again be a part of the Mahwah Museum’s participation at Mahwah Day on Sept. 22. The bus has its own recording studio and visitors will have a chance to play a guitar made by Gibson for Paul McCartney. The museum, which is located at 201 Franklin Turnpike, will continue to exhibit, “New Jersey Fights in the Civil War: Remembering Soldiers Buried in Mahwah” through January 2013. The “Medical Practices” exhibit introduces visitors to the medical demands created by the war and highlights surgeons and nurses with ties to New Jersey, medical facilities, and instruments used. The popular exhibit “Les Paul in Mahwah” will continue until June 2013. The museum is open weekends and Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5; museum members and children under age 12 are admitted free. Old Station Museum and Caboose, located at 1871 Old Station Lane in Mahwah, will be open on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. through Oct. 28. Admission is $3 for an individual and $5 for family groups. The Old Station Museum was built in 1871 and moved to its present location by the Mahwah Historical Society in 1965. Shortly thereafter, it opened as a museum and has been continuously in operation ever since. Support group forming As Thanksgiving approaches, those grieving the loss of a loved one may face the holidays with intense and confusing emotions. The parish of the Church of the Immaculate Conception invites anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one to an eight-week Bereavement Support Group that will begin Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The group is open to the general public free of charge, and will take place at the church, which is located at 900 Darlington Avenue in Mahwah. Residents invited to meet Sinclair Mahwah mayoral candidate Ed Sinclair will host a series of “Meet Ed Nights” at Continental Soldiers Park, which is located at 550 Ramapo Valley Road. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lenape Meadows Elementary School at 160 Ridge Road in Mahwah. Boys and girls ages three through 10 are welcome. Children must be out of diapers and pullups. The evening will feature movies, games, snacks, and activities. The program is run by high school-age girls who are Red Cross Babysitter and First Aid certified. Troop parents will be on hand to supervise. The cost is $12 per child.
