Market to feature ‘Artisan Corner’ The Ramsey Farmers Market will host an October Artisan Corner on Sunday, Oct 21 at the Main Street train station from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Crafters will join over 30 market vendors, who offer organic and traditional produce and products each week. The market includes artisanal breads and cheeses, free range eggs, local honey, organic maple syrup, gluten-free baked goods, gourmet olive oils, wines, organic toffee, homemade pasta and chili, and more fresh and local items. Upcoming entertainment will include Mark Bodino on Oct. 21 and Lou Gallo on Oct. 28. Visit the market each Sunday, through Nov. 18. Ramsey Reads to discuss ‘Comfort Food’ “Ramsey Reads,” the town-wide book club, will meet Nov. 13 for a discussion of Kate Jacobs’ “Comfort Food.” Copies are available at the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Just 1,500 tickets will be sold
at $10 each. Three cash prizes will be awarded. If all the tickets are sold, the first place winner will receive $3,750, the second place winner will be awarded $2,250, and the third place winner will receive $1,500. Chamber announces activities The Ramsey Chamber of Commerce invites members to display their business cards, pamphlets, flyers, and other materials at the Greater Ramsey UNICO Chapter’s Wine Tasting event set for Oct. 26. Parade participants sought The Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Home for the Holidays event on Saturday, Dec. 8. Club offers Pumpkin Paining at Farmers Market The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will sponsor Pumpkin Painting at the Ramsey Farmers Market on Oct. 28. Children are invited to pick and paint a pumpkin for Halloween. Club members will be on hand to discuss the organization’s programs and projects. Friends to host varied programs The Friends of the Ramsey Library will host various programs in the coming months. The events are held at the library located 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The Friends’ sale of the “2013 Book Lover’s Calendars” is now under way. Calendars will be sold at the library throughout the fall. Donations of used books for the Friends’ semi-annual Book Sale will be accepted during library hours from Oct. 15 through 18. A sale preview for members of the Friends organization will be held Friday, Oct. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. New members are welcome to join at the door. The sale will be open to the public on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 21, from noon to 3 p.m.

Support group to meet An Alzheimer’s Caregivers’ Support Group will meet on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Ramsey Public Library, 30 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. Anyone with a family member who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia disorder is invited to share his or her concerns in this supportive, caring, and confidential environment. The group is offered through the trained facilitators at Distinctive Care Geriatric Care Management in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey. Sophia Heftler, nurse and founder of Distinctive Care Geriatric Care Management, will facilitate the meeting. The next meeting is set for Nov. 29. Church invites the community to its Oct. 27 program, “A Time to Heal.” This event, which focuses on maintaining wellness, will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee. Guest speakers will discuss options for ongoing health. The program will end at 1 p.m. Seniors, non-seniors, and caregivers are invited. Freewill donations will be accepted. Boy Scouts host Pancake Breakfast The Ramsey Cub Scout Pack 175 will hold its 22nd Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 28. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at Saint Paul’s School Cafeteria at 187 Wyckoff Avenue. Tickets for this all-you-caneat event are $6 and may be purchased at the door. Children under five years old will be admitted free of charge. Proceeds from the breakfast will support the Cub Scout’s activities.
