The honorees include Kevin Sroczynski, Robert Crimmins, Spencer Lambert, Alexander Odin, Alexander Zamitti, Kate Diamond, Jenna Gravalis, Natalie Puccia, Lauren Naude, and Nicole Conrad. Some 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. The 10 students from Ramsey placed among the top five percent of more than one million students who entered the 2012 scholarship program by taking the 2011 Prelimi- Principal names high school’s Commended Students nary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in October of their junior year. “Recognizing academically talented students plays a fundamental role in the advancement of educational excellence within our nation,” commented an NMSC spokesperson. “The young people recognized as Commended Students represent some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program. We sincerely hope this recognition will provide them with additional educational outlets and motivate them in their pursuit of academic achievement.” The Ramsey Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 155 will hold its Annual Family Pumpkin Hunt on Saturday, Oct. 20. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Interparochial School located at 187 Wyckoff Avenue. In its effort to provide a safe environment for Halloween fun, the PBA will also distribute reflective Halloween bags for nighttime trick-or-treating. Those who participate in the PBA event will also use the bags to collect plastic pumpkins filled with a trick (assorted toys) and a treat (assorted candy). Parents can read this educational information as they enjoy a free cup of coffee. Children are encouraged to come dressed in costume. This free event is open to Ramsey residents. Ramsey PBA Local 155 is a non-profit organization comprised of Ramsey police officers. Each year, PBA Local 155 strives to enhance a strong relationship between law enforcement and the community in order to enhance a safe and supportive environment for residents.
