This 6:30 p.m. event will be held at the Venetian in Garfield. Fr. James Heuser, SDB, director/president of Don Bosco Prep, will present the awards. The 2012 Humanitarian Award will be presented to the Inserra Family of Inserra Supermarkets. Inserra Supermarkets, Inc. is one of the largest supermarket chains in the metropolitan area, and was recently named in the Top 10 privately held companies by NJBIZ for 2012. The ShopRite of Ramsey, proud supporter of many of the fundraising events of Don Bosco Prep, Don Bosco to host 11th Annual President’s Gala is one of the most successful stores in the chain. Carl Inserra Jr., Class of 2004, and Lars Larsen, Class of 2011, grandsons of Lawrence Inserra, are both alumni of Don Bosco Prep. Don Bosco Prep will present the 2012 Community Service Award to Franklin Lakes Mayor Frank Bivona. Bivona was elected to the Franklin Lakes Borough Council in 2009. After one year on the council, serving on the Finance and Administrative committees, he ran and was elected mayor, and began serving in 2011. After a 31-year finance career in New York City and throughout Europe, he retired four years ago. He was a senior executive primarily in the banking and bond insurance business. He has served on several charitable boards and committees, including Junior Achievement, the YMCA of Greater New York, and Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children, and has been active in his community. He graduated from Levittown Memorial High School and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Adelphi University. Roberto Clemente Jr. will receive Don Bosco Prep’s President’s Award for his work as chairman of the Roberto Clemente Foundation. As an individual, and in his work with various charities and business ventures, Clemente remains true to the core mission of helping those in need through fund raising, education, awareness, and humanitarian acts. Clemente assumed this role very early in his life shortly after the untimely death of his MLB Hall of Fame father, Roberto Clemente Sr. Since he (continued on page 14) Area Ozzie Carlson, director of golf programs at Greenhouse Golf in Waldwick and a Record columnist, will speak about “Using Golf as a Business Tool” at the multichamber networking meeting sponsored by the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Hosted by chamber member Greenhouse Golf at its state-of-the-art facility at 140 Hopper Avenue, the event will also feature a talk by Greenhouse Golf’s President and CEO Rich DiMartino, who will discuss “The Critical Elements of Business Development Success.” A software entrepreneur, DiMartino has 27 years of experience in sales and corporate business Guest speaker to focus on golf as a business tool development with Hewlett Packard. Golf training technology demonstrations will also be part of the program, and attendees will be invited to participate. The fee for members of any of the participating chambers of commerce who register by Oct. 4 is $20. Chamber members who pay at the door will be charged $25. The cost for non-chamber members is $30.
