October 3, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 15 Ramsey Review Fall activities resume for seniors The fall schedule for the Ramsey Seniors is now in progress. Activities take place at the senior center located at Finch Park. Monday morning line dancing has resumed at 10 a.m. with the return of leader Louise Casey. The Crafty Sisters meet every Monday at 1:30 p.m. This group is now making blankets for veterans. Donations of yarn are always welcome, and may be dropped off at the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue, or at the senior center. The mahjongg group meets on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. Bridge, poker, and Scrabble are also available. Ping pong will be in full swing at 6:30 p.m. New players are welcome. Men’s Bocce will meet at 1 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Ramsey Pool beginning Oct. 3. In the event of inclement weather, there will be shuffleboard at the center. Sunday afternoon movies begin at 1 p.m. Snacks are provided. On Monday and Friday at 3:30 p.m., seniors may join Andree as he leads the group in arthritis exercises. Anyone over age 60 may participate in this healthy, fun-filled hour of low-impact exercise. For information about all other activities, including yoga and Tai Chi classes, stop by the center for a calendar of events. Touch-a-Truck, Blood Drive set The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will host its annual Touch-A-Truck and Blood Drive on Oct. 7 at the Ramsey Farmers Market. The market is open on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the train station on Main Street. Children of all ages will be able to climb on and learn about different trucks and emergency service organizations. Proceeds will support Ramsey’s emergency service groups, including the fire department, rescue squad, ambulance corps, and police department. Visitors are asked to contribute the suggested family donation of $5. A Bloodmobile will be on hand for anyone willing to donate to the Blood Bank. On Oct. 28, the club will sponsor Pumpkin Painting at the Ramsey Farmers Market. Children are invited to pick and paint a pumpkin for Halloween. Club members will be on hand to discuss the organization’s programs and projects. Group to discuss Grisham novel The Connections Book Group at the First Presbyterian Church will discuss John Grisham’s “The Testament” on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Metzger Room at the church located at 15 Shuart Lane. Copies of the book are available at the Ramsey Public Library, 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The lun- cheon will be held in the Ramsey Country Club Atrium located at 105 Lakeside Drive in Ramsey. Guest speaker Dr. Kent Harris will present a program about wellness. The cost to attend is $25. Schulz to discuss small space gardening Master Gardener Janet Schulz will offer a presentation on art and design for the small garden to the Ramsey Area Garden Club on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The group will meet at the Church of the Redeemer at 55 Wyckoff Avenue at 6:45 p.m. Schulz is the past director and a member of the Hosta Society. Her garden has been listed in the Garden Conservancy’s Open Day’s Directory. She is also a horticultural lecturer and teacher.
