He retired from Electronic Data Systems in 1996. He is survived by his brother Paul J. and sister-in-law Christine Schulze of Ramsey, and his sister-in-law Ruth Schulze of Naples, Florida, and two generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys Emily Kielt, his parents Frederick L. and Catherine T. Schulze, and his brothers Frederick V. Schulze, Albert D. Schulze, and James T. Schulze. Michael Valmoro of Mahwah died Sept. 21. He was 74. He was a teacher of English and Shakespeare at Teaneck High School for 38 years. He is survived by his wife Joanne, his children Lona, Adam, Lillian, and Celia, and four grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 96 East Allendale Road in Saddle River. Carole Anne Wiley of Mahwah died. She was 74. Before retiring, she was the zoning official for the Township of Mahwah for 25 years. After retiring, she continued to work part-time for the building department. She was a 30-year member of the Mahwah Ambulance & Rescue Squad Company 1. She is survived by her children Jeff Wiley of Bayside, Maine, Meridith Magner of Mahwah, and Karen Wiley of Pasadena, Texas, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her sister Virginia Jones of Elliott, Iowa. John Gregory of Wyckoff died Sept. 22. He was 79. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an engineer engaged in research and sales. Before retiring, he was an IT salesperson with AT&T. After retiring, he worked in the building department for the Borough of Allendale. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his sons Stephen, John C., and Glenn, and two grandsons. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. Bernhard Christian Frederick Klein of Midland Park died Sept. 25. He was 85. He was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. He began working in the machine shop at Marlow Pumps in Midland Park in 1954. He retired in 1990 as the accountant of purchasing. After retiring, he worked at Aviation International News in Midland Park. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Midland Park for over 50 years. He is survived by his children John Klein of Eaton, New York, Joan Dobutovich of Oak Ridge, and Eric Klein of Midland Park, and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jane (nee Minkema). Savino of Mahwah died Sept. 22. He was 79. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He graduated from Fordham University and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 1941 in Mahwah, VFW Post 7124 and American Legion Post 0174. He was a certified tax assessor and a New Jersey licensed public accountant. He served as a legislative aid to State Senator Garrett Hagedorn. He was a member of the Mahwah Zoning Board for over 40 years, and president of the Mahwah Republican Club. He served as the chief financial officer of Mahwah from 1973-78, and was chairman of the Revaluation Committee 1974-75. Before retiring, he was the corporate tax manager of American Cyanamid. He was on the sewer assessment board in 1982 and the I287 Committee 1983-84. He is survived by his wife Geraldine Savino (nee Burgio), his children Lynn M. Savino of Mahwah, Dona Savino of Suffern, New York, and William J. Savino of Mahwah, one grandchild, his sister Michelle Caron, brother and sisters-in-law Jay and Sue Burgio and Elizabeth Hansen, and seven nieces and nephews. Brother James Wiegand, SDB, Don Bosco Prep’s assistant varsity basketball coach and junior varsity tennis coach, will receive the Salesian Educator Award for his work serving youth for over five decades. Fr. James Heuser, SDB will also formally induct five alumni into the prestigious Don Bosco Prep Hall of Fame, honoring them for the significant contributions they have made to their professions and communities. The hall of fame inductees include Timothy Rose, Thomas Potenza, Joseph F. Kelly, James Fortescue, and U.S. Army Major Thomas Kennedy (posthumously). Rose is president and CEO of Flyte Tyme Worldwide Transportation in Mahwah and is a member of the Class of 1983. Flyte Tyme, with branch offices in Princeton, Stamford, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, maintains a fleet of over 350 vehicles and was ranked the sixth largest limousine company in the United States by Limousine and Chauffeur Magazine in 2012. Potenza is the owner/founder of TechLink, an IT consulting and staffing company and a member of the Class of 1984. TechLink employs over 250 people and serves many Fortune 500 companies across the country. TechLink has offices in Mahwah and South Plainfield. Kelly is president, partner, and member of the board of directors of OTC Global Holdings, and member of the Class of 1989. Today, OTC Global Holdings is the largest liquidity provider for both the CME and ICE exchanges across all commodities. OTCGH owns and operates 18 firms with offices in Houston, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Louisville, Florida, London, and Geneva. Fortescue is managing director, head of liabilities, and chief of staff of Annaly Capital Management and FIDAC. He is a member of the Class of 1991. Kennedy, a member of the Class of 1995, was killed by a suicide bomber targeting U.S. Army leaders in Sarkowi, Afghanistan, on Aug. 8, 2012. Kennedy was most recently assigned to the Headquarters Company of the 4th Infantry Division’s 4th Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Carson, Colorado. He had been deployed to Afghanistan for just two weeks when the attack was made on him and the U.S. leaders on their way to meet Afghan leadership. He was on his fourth tour of duty. He had earned numerous awards and medals for his service, including the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Valorous Unit Award.
