Ramsey October 3, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 11 The Ramsey Chamber of Commerce had more than 50 local businessmen and women in attendance at its last meeting, as President Robert Tilton urged members to volunteer for the various committees do the organization can grow without putting too much pressure on any one member. “There are so many great projects out there; but we need the man/woman power to support them. We have such great potential, and I want to make sure that we capitalize on every ounce of it,” said Tilton, who owns Wireless World of Ramsey. Since is formation in the spring, the chamber now New Ramsey Chamber seeks volunteers, members counts more than 100 members. Tilton envisions shop local programs, a new website, cooperative programs with the schools, and clothing, toy or food drives to draw customers into area businesses. The new president has set up various committees to work on some of the projects, and many members have already come forward. The are: The Web-Site Team: Alex Stecyna is heading this group with Adam Sroczynski, Betsy Coyne, David Wilding, Ray Mancism, Aparna Mulchandani and Jude (continued on page 15) Future leaders Some 54 students and seven teachers recently traveled to Shandaken, New York, to participate in Ramsey High School’s Leadership Training Camp. This program fosters leadership skills in students who have demonstrated leadership potential within the school environment. Eleven students who had attended a previous training camp conducted workshops about leadership traits, problem-solving, communication, and public speaking. Each year, these newly trained leaders share their time and talent to help facilitate and lead the freshman orientation program, eighth grade visitations, parent nights, and other events. Student leaders are encouraged to provide their input on how to make Ramsey High School a better place to learn. In addition, they serve as catalysts as Ramsey High School officials move forward with both school and the district initiatives.
