Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • October 3, 2012 Sign ordinance Continuing education (continued from page 3) The council then discussed various changes that could be made to the ordinance and the procedure for obtaining approval to post temporary signs on public property. Fede advised that no form or fee is required to get that approval under the current ordinance, but the council would have to consider all requests to post temporary signs on public property at a public council meeting. Mayor Laforet offered not to post temporary signs in the rights of way and on public property this year if all the other candidates for municipal offices would agree to follow suit. But the two council candidates who are seeking reelection, DiGiulio and Roth, did not agree Laforet’s proposal, and Spiech said the council could not impose that limit on all the candidates. Williams then moved to reintroduce the ordinance, and Alderisio seconded that motion. Once again, the vote ended in a tie with the six council members voting the same as on the previous motions. All three motions failed. As a result, the current ordinance that prohibits temporary signs in rights of way and on public property unless the approval of the council is obtained, remains in effect.
