Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES Ramsey IV • November 28, 2012 Ramsey resident Arthur Keys will exhibit his woodcarvings, paintings, and Chinese calligraphy at the Ramsey Public Library during the month of December. Born Brooklyn, Keys’ fascination with wood stems from a grade school shop class. He furthered his interest in this Borough man to exhibit artwork at library area approximately 50 years ago, when he began teaching carving with Boy Scout Troop 32. His woodwork projects include wildlife, waterfowl, caricatures, and plaques in relief. Observers find Keys’ style as unique as the artist: honest, forthright, quirky, and The Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Home for the Holidays event on Saturday, Dec. 8. Main Street will again be turned into a walking mall and closed off to automobile traffic from 6 to 9 p.m. The Parade of Lights will step off from Dater School at 7:15 p.m., march down Main Street, and conclude at Island Avenue, where several performances will take place. Santa will be on hand to meet Home for the Holidays coming up children at the Terri O’Connor Real Estate office at 45 East Main Street before and after the parade. The Ramsey Wind Symphony will offer a program of holiday music at Ramsey High School, 266 East Main Street. Community and school groups are invited to enter a float in the parade. Keys is also a member of the Ramsey Seniors. For several years, he has been taking painting classes at the center. He started with watercolors and recently moved on to Chinese brush painting. In addition to his artistic activities, Keys has been a member of the Ramsey Fire Department for over 60 years. He is also a member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife Marie raised six children in town and are now the grandparents of 11. The Ramsey Public Library is located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours.
