November 28, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 23 Ramsey Review Seniors plan Christmas celebration The Ramsey Seniors will hold the club’s annual Christmas Party at the Ramsey Country Club on Tuesday, Dec. 4. This event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sign up at borough hall, 33 North Central Avenue in Ramsey. The cost to attend is $30, and the event will feature dancing to music by Ron Delapina. Registration will remain open through Nov. 30. The borough will provide transportation for Ramsey seniors who do not drive for $3 roundtrip. To arrange for transportation, call (201) 825-3400. The seniors’ first event of the New Year will be a concert by renowned jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli on Saturday, Jan. 19. Pizzarelli and his quartet will perform at 8 p.m. at the Berrie Center in Ramapo College in Mahwah. Tickets are $45, which is payable to Ramsey Seniors and includes van transportation from the senior center. Sign up at borough hall, 33 North Central Avenue, has begun. Winter activities have moved indoors for the bocce boys. Join the group every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the center at 1 p.m. for shuffleboard, or a game of pool on the new pool table. A monthly calendar of events is available at the center in Finch Park. All Ramsey residents over the age of 60 are invited to join. Summer camp dates announced The Ramsey Adult School’s Summer Vibrations Music Camp will be held July 8 through 26, 2013. Now in its seventh year, this popular music enrichment camp is open to children who will be entering grades five through eight the September following the camp. Vibrations is a multifaceted, three-week performance-based music camp and includes instrument lessons, music-based electives, ensembles, and forums. Music camp staff members come from various backgrounds. Instructors include certified instrumental music teachers, professional musicians, and college music majors. The adult school encourages individuals who are certified instrumental music teachers, have a musical degree, or are majoring in music, to contact Juana Jacobsen in the Adult School’s Youth and Children’s Programs office at (201) 785-2300, extension 21706 for more information. Church announces upcoming events The First Presbyterian Church at 15 Shuart Lane in Ramsey will host its Ladies Christmas Tea on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event, which features entertainment, stories, poetry, the handbell choir, caroling, sweets, and savories, is open to women age 16 and older. Celebrate Advent at a family service The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, located at 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey, invites families with children to the second seasonal Family Worship Service at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2. The congregation will celebrate the beginning of Advent with special music and the lighting of the Advent wreath. This service is for families with active, if not always attentive, children. The music is upbeat, and portions of the service are designed to address the children on their level with spiritual sustenance. The service will end with Holy Communion. Friends to host varied programs The Friends of the Ramsey Library will host various programs in the coming months. The events are held at the library located 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The Friends’ sale of the “2013 Book Lover’s Calendars” is now under way. Calendars will be sold at the library throughout the fall. Upcoming cultural arts events provided by the Friends of the Library will include: Dec. 16, A Les Paul & Mary Ford Tribute by Tom & Sandy Doyle; Feb. 10, 2013 Broadway Show Tunes performed by Nancy L. Adorno Fathers announce contest The Adorno Fathers in Ramsey are sponsoring a special 1,500 Club Fundraiser. Just 1,500 tickets will be sold at $10 each. Three cash prizes will be awarded. If all the tickets are sold, the first place winner will receive $3,750, the second place winner will be awarded $2,250, and the third place winner will receive $1,500. Farmers Market moves indoors The Ramsey Farmers Market will move to its indoor location, the Eric Smith School at 73 Monroe Street, on Dec. 2. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The indoor winter market will host over 25 vendors with fresh fish from the Hampton Bays, grass fed pasture raised meats, organic and hothouse produce, local orchard fruits and baked goods, artisanal cheeses and breads, homemade pastas, and much more.
