Everyone is invited to Ridgewood for a gala celebration on Friday, Nov. 30 as the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 27th Anniversary of Downtown for the Holidays. Parking on East Ridgewood Avenue will be prohibited from 4:30 p.m. and closed to traffic from 5:30 to 9 p.m. to accommodate this annual event. The Christmas tree lighting and celebration will be held at the east side of the train station located at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Broad Street. Chamber members will set up their tables on East Ridgewood Avenue from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Members who wish to participate, but have not yet contacted the Chamber, are invited to call (201) 445-2600 or e-mail info@ridgewoodchamber.com. Once again, the Downtown for the Holidays Entertainment Committee has put together a spectacular stage show. The music will start at 5:30 p.m. and performances will follow at 7 p.m.
Downtown for the Holidays celebrates 27th Anniversary
The tree lighting ceremony will follow at 7:30 p.m. This year’s tree is even bigger and more spectacular than ever, and event organizers expect several thousand visitors to attend the lighting ceremony. Entertainment at the stage located at the east side of the train station will continue until 8 p.m. Performances will spill out into the streets of the village between 8 and 9 p.m. and will feature Irish dancers under the town clock and on the street. The Ridgewood High School Singers will also perform under the clock and in stores. Fourth grade students from the Benjamin Franklin Middle School will sing and play the bells. The Ridgewood High School Orchestra will send six groups of musicians to entertain in stores and restaurants. Santa will be in his house at Van Neste Square Park from 8 to 9 p.m. to visit with children and hear their requests. The Nov. 30 celebration will include multiple facets.
