November 21, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 3 Ramsey The Ramsey Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of the accreditation process through the New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, which is administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs Police pursue accreditation; relevant input sought of Police. Successful completion of the process will also result in national recognition from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with 112 standards that represent the best practices in law enforcement. The accreditation process is rigorous and includes a close examination of the agency’s written directive system, operation, and facility. As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments to the accreditation assessors assigned to the onsite assessment by calling (201) 327-1700) on Monday, Dec. 17 between 10 a.m. and noon. Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the accreditation standards. The team of assessors from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police in alliance with CALEA will arrive on Dec. 16 to examine all aspects of the Ramsey Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services, Police Chief Bryan Gurney reported. Verification by the team that the Ramsey Police Department meets the commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain law enforcement accreditation status. Accreditation is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence, Chief Gurney said.
