November 7, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 15 Ramsey Review Saint John’s hosts Annual Holiday Fair Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church will host its Holiday Fair Nov. 16 and 17 at the church located at East Main Street at Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey. A mainstay in the community for over 30 years, the fair offers the Preview Gala, with a cocktail party feel, on Friday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. The gala includes wine, hors d’oeuvres, an auction, and “first dibs” shopping for a $7 donation. On Nov. 17, children and parents will enjoy free admission to the fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children are invited to make crafts and shop at the Holiday Dollar Parlor while parents choose from a wide variety of theme baskets and handcrafted, high-quality holiday gifts. The event will also feature homemade gourmet foods, apple pies, a large selection of baked goods, and breakfast and lunch at the Saint John’s Café. Church announces upcoming events The First Presbyterian Church at 15 Shuart Lane has scheduled several events for the next few weeks. The women’s association will host its Harvest Festival 2012 on Nov. 18 in Fellowship Hall following the 10 a.m. worship service. Everyone is invited to purchase brunch items, which will be sold for $1 to $3. Coffee, tea, and juice will be provided Proceeds from the festival will benefit the church’s mission partners, New City Kids. The Connections Book Group will discuss Conor Grennan’s “Little Princes: One Man’s Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal” on Nov. 14. The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Metzger Room at the church. While volunteering at the Little Princes Orphanage in war-torn Nepal, Grennan learns that the children are not orphans, but victims of child-trafficking. Stunned by this discovery, he goes on to risk his life on a journey through the Himalayas, reuniting the children he has come to love with their families. Books are available at the Ramsey Library at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The Ladies Christmas Tea will be held on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event, which features entertainment, stories, poetry, the handbell choir, caroling, sweets, and savories, is open to women age 16 years and older. Designer offers tips Bonnie Fitzpatrick, a floral designer with 18 years of experience, will share floral arranging techniques at the Nov. 13 meeting of the Ramsey Area Garden Club. The 6:45 p.m. meeting will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer at 55 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey. Play center holds Open House During the week of Nov. 12, the New Park ‘N Play, an indoor play center located in Ramsey, will host a free Open House for prospective families. Open to all children from newborn to age six, the New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Membership is $225 per family. The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Counseling organization holds craft program Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling of Ramsey will hold its first Holiday Memorial Craft Program on Saturday, Nov. 17 at their Carriage House, located at 60 East Main Street, Ramsey. The program, held from 4 to 5:30 p.m., will give bereaved children an opportunity to meet other children in similar situations. Participants will create a special craft in memory of a loved one and enjoy a snack while their parents and/or family members socialize in the loft. There is no cost to attend this program.
