The Rev. Patrick F. Pindar Council #3962, Ramsey Knights of Columbus, recently held the 35nd Annual Shield Awards presentation at the K of C Council Hall at 48 Mechanic Street. This year’s recipients included Detective Brad Smith, Ramsey Police Department; Lieutenant George Fosdick, Ramsey Fire Department; Squadman Bryan Phillips, Ramsey Rescue Squad; and Deputy Chief Erik Bergsten, Ramsey Ambulance Corps. Long-time Ramsey Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Michael Adams earned a posthumous award for his service. Adams’ award was accepted by his brother, Stephen Adams. “It is an honor to again be able to recognize our public safety personnel who do an excellent job safeguarding the residents of Ramsey. They perform a dangerous and demanding task, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Grand Knight Ron Damato. The Knights of Columbus Shield Awards were launched in May 1977 to honor an outstanding member of the Ramsey Fire Department and Police Department. Over the years, the Ramsey Ambulance Corps, OEM, and Rescue Squad have been included. Each agency chooses its own recipient, using its own selection process.
