Ramapo sets Third Annual Leadership Symposium
Ramapo College of New Jersey invites aspiring, new, and experienced managers to its Third Annual Leadership Symposium: The Coach Approach to Leadership on Friday, June 15. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Trustees Pavilion on campus. Amazon best-selling author of “Healing the Corporate World,” Maria Gamb, will be the keynote speaker. “In addition to our timely keynote address, the symposium is conducted by experienced certified professional coaches who are skilled in aiding participants to chart business initiatives and generate results through new strategies for motivating employees and enhancing performance,” said Rosa Diaz-Mulryan, assistant vice president of the Ramapo College Center for Innovative and Professional Learning, the sponsor of the program. “The symposium topics focus on developing leaders to learn and apply a ‘coach approach’ to their leadership to maximize effectiveness in individual conversations, relationship building, and group/team performance.” This learning and networking event is designed to enable participants to actively learn from and network with leaders, experts, practitioners, and colleagues in group information sessions and table discussions and includes three, one-hour practical application training sessions: “Leadership and Listening,” “A Coach Approach to High Performing Teams,” and “Storytelling: A Coaching and Leadership Tool.” Handouts with application tips for integrating in the workplace are provided along with an offer for a free follow-up private coaching session to help reinforce the information learned. Workshop presenters include Associate Certified Coaches by the International Coach Federation: Dr. Denise Sawyer-Johnson, D.M., C.P.C., Ramapo College; Jeff Harmon, Brilliance Within Coaching, LLC; and James H. Latimer, The Strong Start Coach. In her planned keynote address, “Stepping out of the Shark Tank: The New Rules of Engagement for Leaders,”
Gamb will seek to break down the perceptions of leadership, reassembling them with an entirely new set of rules of engagement. Gamb is a monthly contributor at Forbes magazine and co-hosts a national radio show. Her first book, “Healing the Corporate World,” became an Amazon Top 10 Best-seller in the category of business leadership within hours of its release. She is a contributing author to “The Rise,” a modern day parable of creating business and personal success by changing underlying perceptions. As a former Fortune 500 executive trailblazer, Gamb spent more than 20 years directing and managing successful businesses valued in excess of $100 million. Gamb has lived in England and Australia, and has worked extensively internationally throughout Asia, Europe, and the Australasian Basin. The program fee, which includes breakfast and lunch, is $349 for individuals or $299 per attendee for groups of three or more from the same organization. The Ramapo affiliate (alumni, students, and employees) fee is $249. To register online and for additional information, visit www. ramapo.edu/cipl/workshops/leap-symposia.html.
