Admission is free. Savino will present a variety of his favorite pieces, including classical and Spanish pieces, and music from the 16th century through the present. He will play the music of Villa Lobos, Terrega, Dowland, Bensusan, and many others. The performance will last approximately one hour. Savino is currently the string teacher for Cedar Grove schools and is the co-owner of Savino’s Pizza in Paramus. Pet health event set An All Natural Pet Event, sponsored by Companion Animal Advocates, will be held on June 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Leashed and socialized pets are welcome. (Rain date: June 3.) Local organizations will be on hand to discuss natural methods of enhancing a pet’s health and happiness. The event will feature guest speakers, samples, demonstrations, and more. Rescue and shelter groups will be available for pet adoptions. Seniors to visit Terracotta Warriors The Mahwah Seniors have planned a trip to see the Terracotta Warriors at The Exhibition at Discovery Times Square on 226 West 44th Street in New York City on Tues- day, July 24. Participants will discover the legend behind the authentic terracotta soldiers, which includes a fascinating journey back to the time of China’s first emperor. The exhibit includes an exclusive collection of over 200 treasures and artifacts from ancient China. The cost is $61 per person and includes transportation, admission to the exhibit, and lunch at Carmine’s Restaurant. This month’s selection is Ann Mohin’s “The Farm She Was.” At the age of 17, after her father’s early death, Irene Leahy was left to run her family’s sheep farm. Young Irene took to farm life with a vengeance. Fierce, capable, and independent, she was a force to be reckoned with. Now, in her old age, friends want her to sell her land and move into a nursing home. In her journals, Irene responds by chronicling the particulars of her long and hard-working life. Les Paul birthday gala set On June 9, the Mahwah Museum will hold a gala to celebrate what would have been Les Paul’s 97th birthday. The gala will be held at the trustees pavilion at Ramapo College at 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $25 and will feature wine, hors d’oeuvres, light fare, and birthday cake. There will be live music by Lou Pallo and others. The college is located at 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah. Many autographed collectibles donated to the museum by a prominent Les Paul autograph collector will be offered in a special auction. There will be opportunities to win autographed guitars—including one signed by George Benson and another signed by Eric Clapton – and other music memorabilia. The items are currently on display at the Mahwah Museum, 201 Franklin Turnpike. Tickets to both the gala and the fundraiser contests may be purchased at the Mahwah Museum.
