Ramsey High School Principal Richard S. Lio recently announced the names of the valedictorian and co-salutatorians for the Class of 2012. Lauren Webb is the valedictorian, and Nicholas Cicciari and Matthew Long are co-salutatorians. All three students are Ramsey residents, President’s Education Award recipients, three-time recipients of the Scholastic “R” Award, National Honor Society members, and World Language Honor Society members. Webb has involved herself fully during her four years at Ramsey High School through participation in various extracurricular and co-curricular activities including: Art Club, S.T.A.N.D. (Students Take Action Now-Darfur), Student Outreach Service, Interact Club, Math League, Leadership Camp, and the Enrichment Program. She has also been a member of the tennis team all four years. is a 2012 National Merit Commended Scholar. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Webb. Cicciari has participated in Math League, Mock Trial, and Leadership Camp, and is a staff member of the Ram, the student newspaper. He is also a member of the Big Blue Marching Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Cicciari. Long has been a class officer and a member of the spring track team all four years. He is a yearbook staff member and participated in the Enrichment Program, Math League, Mock Trial, Leadership Camp, and Student Outreach Service. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Long.
Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli and Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney have announced the arrest of Octavio Hernandez-Vasquez, 25, of Ramsey on charges of attempted sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit under the direction of Chief Steven Cucciniello and the Ramsey Police Department under the direction of Chief Gurney. On May 8, members of the Ramsey Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Hernandez-Vasquez after learning that he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a 13-yearold female acquaintance. The information about the alleged sexual conduct was brought to the attention of personnel

where the victim attends school. School officials contacted the Ramsey Police Department. Ramsey Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and an investigation ensued resulting in the arrest. Bail was set by Judge Joseph Rosa at $100,000, no 10 percent option and no contact with the victim. HernandezVasquez was subsequently remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail. Hernandez-Vasquez is listed as a single man who is employed by a local landscaping company. Prosecutor Molinelli stated that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Molinelli thanked the Ramsey Police Department for its work on this case.
