Ramsey
Kevin Sroczynski of Ramsey Boy Scout Troop 31 has completed his Eagle Scout project at the Green Acres woods located at Woodland and Fuhrman avenues in Ramsey. Sroczynski’s project established a trail through the woods connecting to Briggs Avenue. The effort involved clearing away brush and branches, laying mulch, and putting up trail markers on the one-third mile trail. Over 30 Scouts, friends, and family members donated over 200 hours during several weekends to complete the project. The final step was to create two wooden signs at each end, naming the path the Corporal Michael D. Jankiewicz Trail in honor of the Ramsey native who died while on duty in Afghani-

stan in 2010. The resulting trail provides a shortcut for local residents and an opportunity for the community to enjoy this area of woods throughout the year. Sroczynski, who is currently a junior at Ramsey High School, has held multiple leadership positions in Troop 31, and is currently serving as an assistant senior patrol leader. He is also a den chief in Cub Scout Pack 175 and is in the final stages of his trail to Eagle, the highest rank in Boy Scouting. Troop 31, which is one of the oldest troops in the nation, is now celebrating its 100th Anniversary.
