Christine J. Deluca, nee Zachmann, died March 6. She was 102. She is survived by her children Frances D. Derlinga and Frank J. Deluca, six grandchildren, and 12 greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Frank A. Deluca and her daughter Christine M. Koye. A memorial service will be held June 2 at Immaculate Conception Church, 900 Darlington Avenue in Mahwah. A celebration of her life will follow. Vincent J. DeLuca of Ramsey died March 21. He was 51. He is survived by his wife Denise DeLuca (nee Bokuniewicz), his children Jack and Deanna, and his sister Doreen Macchione. He was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Anna. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh Sneider Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Louise A. Ferris, nee Branciforte, of Mahwah, formerly of Tenafly, died March 14. She was 75. Before retiring in 1999, she worked as a legal administrator for CPC, Inc. of Englewood Cliffs for 23 years. She was a member of the Tenafly’s Woman’s Club, and a member of Valley Hospital Auxiliary in Mahwah. She is survived by her husband Thomas Ferris Sr. and her children, Thomas Ferris Jr. of Wyckoff, Suzanne Walker of Glen Rock, and Patricia Andersen of Massachusetts. She is also survived by five grandchildren, and her sister Frances LaValle. Arrangements were made by Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. in Lyndhurst. Benjamin Joseph Imparato of Mahwah, formerly of Long Island City and Astoria, New York, died March 19. He was 82. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was born in Italy. Before retiring, he was a sales administrator for Ingersoll-Rand Co. of Woodcliff Lake for 40 years. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Mahwah. He is survived by his wife Florence (nee Salimeno) Imparato; his children Judy McCarthy of Middletown, New York, Veronica Saldarini and Michael Imparato, both of Mahwah; and five grandchildren. Helen O’Rourke, nee Beckler, of Greenfield, Massachusetts, formerly of Paramus and Hobe Sound, Florida died March 15. She was 88. Before she retired in 1990, she was a career executive for Safeco Insurance Company. She was an artist. She is survived by her sons Kevin O’Rourke of Ramsey and Dennis O’Rourke of South Deerfield, Massachusetts, four grandchildren, and her brother Joseph. Paul Serekian of Mahwah, formerly of Glen Rock and Clifton, died March 16. He was 72. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received a master’s degree from New York University in metallurgical engineering. Before retiring in 2007, he was vice president of advanced technologies at Stryker Corporation. During his career as a metallurgist, he made significant contributions to the development of materials used in medical implant technologies. Among his achievements was the introduction of ceramic coatings that have been used in total hip replacements and the refinement of ceramic devices used in total joint replacements. He is survived by his wife Anne, his daughter Nicole, his sister Violet, and one nephew. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Karabet “Gary” Simonyan of Wyckoff, formerly of Franklin Lakes died March 19. He was 77. He was born in Amasya, Turkey and moved to the United States in 1954. He earned degrees from RCA Technical Institute, where he studied television; Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, where he studied engineering; and Hofstra University, where he studied physics and math. In 1985, he founded Wireless Telecom Group, Inc., then under the trade name Noise Com. Until his resignation in 2005, he served at various times as Wireless Telecom’s president, chief executive officer, and chairman of the board. In 1997, along with his wife and son Eric, he opened the Endless Vine in Franklin Lakes. He is survived by his wife Aline Simonyan, his daughter Laura Rensel, two grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law Arsho and Avedis Baghsarian, his motherin-law Verjin Kececi, his sister-in-law Rita Purdy, a niece, and grandnephew. He was predeceased by his son Eric Simonyan, and his parents Papken and Sirvart Simonyan. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, Inc in Fair Lawn. She had worked as a secretary for Northern Propane Gas and, more recently, as a crossing guard in Ridgewood. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hawthorne Caballeros. She is survived by her husband George A. Williams; her children John Carr of Kingston, New York, Kathi Fiore of Millburn, and Thomas Carr of Stewartsville; her stepchildren Wendy Williams of Blue Ridge, Virginia, and Gary Williams of Roanoke, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. (continued from page 6) Laforet said he was committed to shaping Mahwah in the best interests of the residents. He has served as a member of the township’s zoning board of adjustment since 1973, and has provided his input to every case before that board throughout the past 40 years. Phiefer has been a member of the environmental commission since 1985 and is still serving on that board, having been recently reappointed until 2014. Laforet said she has actively provided her expertise on reviewing landscaping plans, the selection of appropriate varieties of trees, and the newest techniques of planting, fertilizing, and irrigation for the commission. She is also an active member of the Mahwah Sustainable Group. Phiefer said she has loved Mahwah for 42 years and hopes to continue serving the township for many years. Kelly has served as the Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Mahwah Memorial Post 7124 from 2006 to 2010. He served as a member of the planning board prior to his election to the council in 2002 and then again after leaving the council in 2011. Kelly has served as a member of Mahwah Fire Department Company #1, acting as battalion chief in 1998 and as president from 1998 to 2004. He served on the township council from 2002 through 2006 and was the council president from 2005 to 2006. He served as commander of District 2 VFW for all of Bergen County from 2010 to 2011. He is a founding member of Mahwah American Legion Post 531. “It has been my privilege to serve the community,” Kelly said when he received his plaque. “I hope to continue for many years. Thank you.”
