Ramsey March 14, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 9 The National Merit Scholarship Program recently named Robert Esposito, Class of 2012 at Ramsey High School, a Merit Finalist. Less than one percent of graduating U.S. high school seniors are eligible for this prestigious recognition. All finalists are being considered for one of the 2,500 single-payment $2,500 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered on a state representational basis. Finalists who meet specific criteria of a company or business sponsor will be considered for one of the 1,000 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards. Each scholarship must be used for full-time attendance at an accredited college or university in the United States. During his four years at Ramsey High School, Esposito has excelled in the most rigorous and demanding courses that the school offers, and has been an active participant in a variety of extracurricular activities. Esposito has been a recipient of the Ramsey High School Scholastic R award for three years in a row and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the World Language Honor Society. In his junior year, he received the Computer Programming Award. Robert has been active in the Enrichment Program at Ramsey High School and in the Philosophiles Club. The Traditional Chinese Culture Community Outreach Program will make a presentation at the Ramsey Public Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21. Focusing on 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and civilization, the program will feature storytelling through classical Chinese dance and music, including “Journey to the West,” one of the four classics in Chinese literature, and the “Legend of Mulan,” a revolutionary story for women Learn about traditional Chinese culture in Chinese history. Discover the significance of Chinese dances, landscape painting, and music, and take a look into the complexity of viewing Chinese culture inside and outside of China.
