Bring the whole family for an afternoon of face painting, balloon art, egg dying, prizes, and the opportunity to meet Mahwah’s Happy Hare! All Mahwah residents are welcome. The event will take place rain or shine. Continental Soldiers Park is located at 550 Ramapo Valley Road. Scouts hold Food Drive Mahwah Scouts will support the national Scouting for Food program this month. Boys will distribute yellow bags to homes in Mahwah the weekend of March 24. Residents are asked to fill the bags with nonperishable food items and leave them on their front porch by 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 31. The donated food will be brought to the Center for Food Action in Mahwah. Learn Ukrainian egg decorating Patty Wiszuk-DeAngelo will present a three-hour workshop about Ukrainian egg decorating on Saturday, March 31. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Mahwah Public Library, 100 Ridge Road. Participants will decorate their own eggs with materials provided by the instructor. Wiszuk-DeAngelo is an award-winning artist. One of her decorated eggs was displayed at the White House and is now part of the White House Museum. She was featured on “Unwrapped” on the Food Network, and has over 20 years experience as a working artist and teacher. The program is open to adults and teens, age 12 years old and up. Register at the circulation desk. A $20 nonrefundable supply fee is required at registration. High school presents ‘A Tale of Cinderella’ Mahwah High School will present the musical “A Tale of Cinderella” from March 15 through 18. This production will be presented at the high school at 50 Ridge Road. W.A. Frankonis’ “A Tale of Cinderella” is a dreamy take Thirteen students from the Mahwah High School Band Program were selected and awarded positions in the 2012 North Jersey Region I Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Bands. Over 650 students from seven North Jersey counties auditioned for these two prestigious ensembles and 166 total students were accepted between the two groups. The concert was held at Randolph High School. This Cinderella is a woman of action and morals who knows herself and what is right. In this version, Cinderella’s godmother meets her match in the prince’s godfather. With a cast of 60, the show is complemented by a live 15-piece orchestra and a crew of 30. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. March 15 through 17 and at 2 p.m. on March 17 and 18. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students, and will be available at the door. There will be a free performance for seniors at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14. A special “Children’s Gala Matinee” program will be offered on March 17 at 1 p.m. and will include the 2 p.m. matinee performance, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Children may dress up in their royal finery, and the cast will add special touches to the children’s hair and makeup. Young participants will learn a song from the show, and will enjoy treats and sweets before the performance. After the show, the children will be invited onstage to meet Cinderella and the Royal Court. Participants will take home a souvenir patch. The Children’s Gala is $20 for children and $10 for adults.
