Business after Hours networking set On Wednesday, March 14, the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business after Hours networking event for Chamber members and non-members. Participants will meet at Boiling Springs Savings Bank, 6 East Ramapo Avenue in Mahwah, from 6 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be available. The fee is $15 for Chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. Board of health to meet The Mahwah Board of Health will meet on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. The group will meet in the Mahwah Municipal Building, at 475 Corporate Drive. High school presents ‘A Tale of Cinderella’ Mahwah High School will present the musical “A Tale of Cinderella” from March 15 through 18. This production will be presented at the high school at 50 Ridge Road. W.A. Frankonis’ “A Tale of Cinderella” is a dreamy take on the classic fairytale. Set in Venice, this show features twice the songs as a standard musical. This Cinderella is a woman of action and morals who knows herself and what is right. In this version, Cinderella’s godmother meets her match in the prince’s godfather. With a cast of 60, the show is complemented by a live 15-piece orchestra and a crew of 30. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. March 15 through 17 and at 2 p.m. on March 17 and 18. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students, and will be available at the door. There will be a free performance for seniors at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14. A special “Children’s Gala Matinee” program will be offered on March 17 at 1 p.m. and will include the 2 p.m. matinee performance, which ends at 4:30 p.m. Children may dress up in their royal finery, and the cast will add
special touches to the children’s hair and makeup. Young participants will learn a song from the show, and will enjoy treats and sweets before the performance. After the show, the children will be invited onstage to meet Cinderella and the Royal Court. Participants will take home a souvenir fun patch. The Children’s Gala is $20 for children and $10 for adults. A free performance for seniors will be held at 4 p.m. on March 22. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. The middle school is located at 150 Ridge Road. Tickets will be available at the door. Library offers programs for adults The Mahwah Library offers a variety of free programs for adults. Seating is provided on a “first come” basis. Actors Gary Petagine and Sean Grady will present “The Enemy Within: Benedict Arnold Returns Home” on Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. After committing treason against the American cause, Arnold was made a brigadier general in the British Army. In this performance, it is Sept. 6, 1781 and Arnold has invaded New London in his home state of Connecticut. He debates with a captured American Continental soldier as a massacre unfolds at nearby Fort Griswold. Petagine and Grady will bring this imagined encounter based on historic facts to life in an entertaining, interactive, and dramatic program. On March 14, Bill Schroh of the Liberty Hall Museum will present “Ladies of Liberty Hall” at 7 p.m. From Susan Livingston, daughter of Governor Livingston, whose daring exploits saved Liberty Hall from the British during the Revolutionary War, to Mary Alice Kean who worked tirelessly for the preservation of the historic structures, Livingston and Kean women have played an important role in the history of our community. This lively talk describes two hundred years of contributions by the Ladies of Liberty Hall. A Ella & Frank: A Tribute will be presented on March 18 at 2 p.m. when Rhonda Denét teams up with “Echoes of Sinatra” vocalist Steve Kazlauskas for a show that brings
audiences back to when two legends in American music brought audiences to their feet. The duo is accompanied by the Silver Fox Songs Trio with Hui Cox on guitar, Dave McDowell on sax/flute, and Chuck Batton on percussion. Book and film group to meet The Classic Book and Film Society will meet on March 10 at 2 p.m. The book discussion will highlight F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby.” The club, facilitated by Carolyn Epstein and Rich Thielker, meets one month to discuss classic novels, and the next month to view and discusses the film version of the same story. Epstein, a Mahwah resident, is a teacher with Saint Thomas Aquinas College’s English/writing department. Thielker taught film and literature and the history of film at Pascack Valley High School and at the Pascack Valley Community School. This club is free. No registration is necessary. Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day The Ramapo Reformed Church will hold a Saint Patrick’s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on March 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The dinner, which will include corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and dessert, will be available to eat in or to take out. The cost is $10. A children’s meal of corned beef or chicken will be available for $5. Advance tickets are required. Sisterhood hosts fundraiser Temple Beth Haverim Shir Shalom Sisterhood based at 280 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah will host a special auction on March 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. There is no entrance fee. Prizes will include gift certificates to some of the finest area gourmet restaurants and businesses. Proceeds will support education, social action, scholarships, and other programs.
