Mahwah dedication ceremony draws large turnout
Mahwah Ladder Company # 2 recently held a dedication ceremony for the new memorial at the firehouse on Island Road. Firefighters, Ladies Auxiliary members and their families gathered to dedicate two new monuments. Company #2 received a piece of steel from the World Trade Center that was made into a memorial that honors all those who perished and the recovery workers and Company # 2 firefighters that responded to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack. The other monument is dedicated to all the deceased members of Company # 2. Company # 2 Chaplain Father Floyd Rotunno read a reflection on Sept. 11, and then blessed the site. ExChief Ed Sinclair, who served as emcee, expressed sincere appreciation to Chris Younes of Uniscape Landscaping, Jerry Crean of JC Electric, Travis Monuments, and NYC Iron Workers who donated their time and materials to create the memorial site.
