He introduced “All Wrapped Up” to the Lions. This program brings gifts to children in need. In 1996, he attended the International Lions Convention in Montreal, Canada. He has also taken on various responsibilities at the Lions Carnival, including running the food booth for several years. This former freelance insurance agent has kept busy since his retirement. He is a member of the Hobbyists Club in Ridgewood, plays golf, and travels extensively both internationally and within the United States. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization, with more than 1.4 million members in over 180 countries. As the charitable arm of the association, Lions Club International Foundation acts as steward of the financial resources that are disbursed for humanitarian causes. The Saddle River Valley Lions Club, which is currently celebrating its 54th Anniversary, has raised and donated over $1,860,000 since its inception. The local club supports sight-related charities, answering Helen Keller’s plea to become “Knights for the Blind.” In addition to charities that serve the blind, the club also supports local civic organizations and youth programs in Mahwah, Ramsey, Saddle River, and Upper Saddle River and various educational programs.
