Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • January 25, 2012 Area John Fell House Tea Room now in operation The John Fell House Tea Room opened its doors on Sept. 17, 2011 for an inaugural Patriots’ Afternoon Tea and again on Nov. 8 for a Harvest Tea. Both Afternoon Teas were sold out in advance and waiting lists soon began forming for the December Tea. Hundreds of visitors came to the Holiday Open House during the first weekend of December. Weidner Design decorated the library with a live Christmas tree, comfortable furniture, and accessories that brought the room back to its former glory. Theodora’s Gracious Living transformed the red dining room into a place fit for a banquet with the table set for a feast and beautiful decorations on the mantle and chandelier. Friends of the Fell House, volunteers, and committee and board members decorated the remaining first floor rooms. Forty-five guests attended the Holiday Tea on Sunday Dec. 11. Participants were invited to tour the house and enjoy the splendor of a bygone age. A three-course tea was served, and The Highlands Voices from Northern Highlands Regional High School sang for guests. The students gave a wonderful performance and received a standing ovation. Guests attend a Holiday Tea at the John Fell House. The Tea Room Committee thanks all the volunteers who worked so hard to make these three events such a success. Committee members cited the contributions of Passport Café of New Milford for the outstanding food, and Taylor Rental of Franklin Lakes for providing tables, chairs, and linens. Rohsler’s Allendale Nursery and Florist provided beautiful flower arrangements and centerpieces for tables. This spring, the Tea Room will be offering three more Afternoon Teas, including a Mothers and Daughters Tea on April 21. Tea Room organizers also acknowledge all those who generously donated beautiful china, teapots, glasses, and flatware. However, the following items are still needed: three 55-cup coffeemakers, sugar tongs, serving tongs, and lightweight trays. Sponsors are also being sought to participate in helping to fund an Afternoon Tea.
