This month’s selection is Randy Pausch’s “The Last Lecture.” It is a tradition within some academic communities for professors to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. When Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn’t have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, enabling the dreams of others, and seizing every moment. The event is sponsored by the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah. For more information, contact Jennifer Edwards at paicc@yahoo.com or (201) 327-1276.
