Walking groups announce schedule changes The Ramsey Board of Health’s Tuesday and Thursday walks at 9 a.m. and the Friday Mom and Me walks have been suspended for the winter. These programs will resume in the spring. The 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday walks, “Ramsey Walks at Eight,” will continue throughout the winter. The 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday walks, which start at the Interstate entrance to the bike path, will also continue. Osteoporosis screening available The Ramsey Board of Health, in conjunction with the Health Awareness Regional Program of Hackensack University Medical Center, will sponsor a free osteoporosis screening on Tuesday, Feb. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Ramsey Senior Center at Finch Park. No appointment is necessary. Osteoporosis, a preventable disease, affects one in two women and one and four men over age 50. Osteoporosis, the “silent disease,” is bone loss that occurs without symptoms. Recognizing risk and taking preventative measures is key. ESL Tutor Training Workshop offered Ramsey residents interested in becoming English as a Second Language tutors are invited to the Tutor Training Workshop that will be held at the Westwood Public Library on four consecutive Tuesdays, Jan. 24 and 31, and Feb. 7 and 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The training prepares tutors to teach adults to speak and read English.
