The event will be held in the high school cafeteria. The public is welcome to hear the great jazz music by this award-winning band. The free concert will begin at 8 p.m. Refreshments will be available, and donations to the band are welcome. The high school is located at 256 East Main Street. Auxiliary hears talk on heart health Pat Delaney of the Valley Hospital Heart Center will offer a presentation on heart health for men and women at the March 1 meeting of the Ramsey Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Spouses and partners are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served. The group meets at 1 p.m. in the Ramsey Public Library located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. Author to discuss Rolling Stones On March 4, Author Bill German will discuss his years as the creator of Beggar’s Banquet, the official fanzine of the Rolling Stones. This 2 p.m. program will be held at the Ramsey Public Library, 30 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey. German is the author of the book “Under Their Thumb: How a Nice Boy from Brooklyn Got Mixed up with the Rolling Stones (and Lived to Tell about It).” This insider’s view paints a vivid picture of the rock scene from the late ‘70s through the ‘90s. German will share his memories of those years and the vivid characters still influential today. Copies of German’s book will be available for purchase. He will sign autographs after the program. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Friends of Ramsey Library. Upcoming library programs will include a performance by the City Winds Trio on April 22 and a discussion by Ramsey’s own Richard Muti on his new book “The Charmer --The True Story of Robert Reldan -- Rapist, Murderer, and Millionaire -- and the Women Who Fell Victim to his Allure” on May 20. The Friends of the Ramsey Library group meets the second Monday of each month at 10 a.m. New volunteers are welcome. Troop ushers in centennial with Beefsteak Dinner Ramsey Boy Scout Troop 31, considered to be the second oldest troop in the nation, will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2012. As part of the troop’s celebration year, a Beefsteak Dinner is planned for Saturday, March 3 at the Ramsey Knights of Columbus Hall on Mechanic Street. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and include dinner, dessert, soda, beer, coffee, tea, and live music by the Knightcrawlers. The Hawthorne Fortitude Lodge #200 Free and Accepted Masons sponsor the organization. As part of the continuing celebration, the troop has planned a showcase at Finch Park the weekend of June 23 and 24, with a campout, bonfire, and outdoor style food. As the group nears its 2012 milestone, it currently has 100 Boy Scouts and 30 adult leaders, making it the largest troop in the council. The group has performed countless Eagle Scout project around the borough, including many Pack 306, Den 6 Wolves of Ramsey recently toured the Ramsey Library with Miss Maggie to complete Elective 6 (Books, Libraries and Reading). Curious Cubs done for church groups. Troop 31 meets at Ramsey High School on Monday nights. Michael McKiever currently serves as Scoutmaster and Mary Ellen Endress is chairwoman of the Troop Committee. Park ‘N Play fundraiser set On Feb. 28, the Blue Moon Mexican Café in Boulder Run Shopping Center, 327 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff, will sponsor a Community Night to benefit The New Park ‘N Play. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch, dinner, takeout, delivery, or gift card purchases. To participate, mention The New Park ‘N Play or present a Blue Moon Community Night flyer from the website: www.thenewparknplay.com. The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Open to all children from ages zero to six, The New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November through April. Club plans art fundraiser The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will host an Art Auction at the Ramsey Golf & County Club on Saturday, March 3 from 7 to 11 p.m. The auction will be handled by Marlin Arts. PBA Snow Bowl team seeks support On March 3, members of the Ramsey Policemen’s Benevolent Association will participate in the Sixth Annual 2012 New York Giants Snow Bowl to raise money for Special Olympics New Jersey. She was 75. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey. She is survived by her children Kirk, Lori, Teri, and Robert, three grandchildren, and her sister Jean. She was predeceased by her husband Kirk L. Wilson, her son Todd, and her sister Ruth. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey.
