A 7:30 p.m. service with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes will also be offered. A “meatless” Soup and Bread Supper will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 22. Waxenbaum, and Michele Rose Panico. ‘Lord of the Rings’ to be discussed The Church of the Immaculate Conception will sponsor a multi-media presentation and lecture, “The Lord of the Rings and the Christian Spiritual Journey,” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the church, 900 Darlington Avenue. The public is invited to journey to “Middle Earth” with Dr. Gregory Glasov, D.Phil (Oxon.), associate professor of biblical studies and coordinator of the Great Spiritual Books Program at the Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology at Seton Hall University. Dr. Glasov earned his doctoral degree from Oxford University in Jewish studies in the Greco-Roman world. This event is sponsored by the Church of the Immaculate Conception’s “Not by Bread Alone” spiritual book discussion group, which meets to discuss books with spiritual themes. This free lecture is open to the community. Reading “The Lord of the Rings” or viewing of the film series prior to the lecture is suggested, but not mandatory. Barron book to be discussed On March 18 at 5 p.m. the spiritual book discussion group will meet on March 18 at 5 p.m. at Panera Bread, 1300 Route 17 in Ramsey. Sunday Music Series to continue The Mahwah Public Library’s Sunday Music Series will continue this month. All programs are free, and seating is provided on a “first come” basis. Concerts begin at 2 p.m. at the library, which is located at 100 Ridge Road. Vocalist Laura Hull will present “Marquee Melodies: The Music of the Movies” on Feb. 26. Hull, with piano and bass accompaniment, will celebrate the Academy Awards and the music of Hollywood films in her retrospective of rarely heard movie music by the great masters of American songwriting who composed for the soundtracks of the silver screen. Ramapo College hosts Italian Film Series Ramapo College of New Jersey is presenting its Spring Italian Language Film Series. Screenings are set to begin this week. Featured films represent classics by internationally known Italian directors and more recent productions. Admission is free and open to the public. All of the films will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in Room ASB-136 in the Anisfield School of Business. Discussion will follow. Library offers programs for adults During the month of February, the Mahwah Public Library will offer a variety of programs for adults. Programs, which begin at 7 p.m., are free. Seating is provided on a “first come” basis. Some of the greatest works of Mozart will be presented by Mozart specialist and pianist, Catherine Sprague, on Feb. 29. Sprague’s program, “Mozart Masterpieces,” will include “Jupiter Symphony,” “Piano Concerto in D minor,” and music from “The Marriage of Figaro” and “The Magic Flute.” Sprague is a member of the Mozart Society of America and author of a forthcoming book about Mozart.
