Ramsey Boy Scout Troop 31, considered to be the second oldest troop in the nation, will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2012. As part of the troop’s celebration year, a Beefsteak Dinner is planned for Saturday, March 3 at the Ramsey Knights of Columbus Hall on Mechanic Street. The event will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and include dinner, dessert, soda, beer, coffee, tea, and live music by the Knightcrawlers. the organization. As part of the continuing celebration, the troop has planned a showcase at Finch Park the weekend of June 23 and 24, with a campout, bonfire, and outdoor style food. As the group nears its 2012 milestone, it currently has 100 Boy Scouts and 30 adult leaders, making it the largest troop in the council. The group has performed countless Eagle Scout project around the borough, including many done for church groups. Troop 31 meets at Ramsey High School on Monday nights. Michael McKiever currently serves as Scoutmaster and Mary Ellen Endress is chairwoman of the Troop Committee.
On Feb. 28, the Blue Moon Mexican Café in Boulder Run Shopping Center, 327 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff, will sponsor a Community Night to benefit The New Park ‘N Play. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch, dinner, takeout, delivery, or gift card purchases. To participate, mention The New Park ‘N Play or present a Blue Moon Community Night flyer from

The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Open to all children from to age six, The New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 to 5 from November through April.
Pinewood pals
Pack 306 Pinewood Derby winners Kyle M. (first place overall), Chris H. (second place overall), Warren T. (third place overall) and PJ R. (first place Tiger) show off their trophies. All four of these Ramsey winners will advance to the Northern New Jersey District Pinewood Derby. Each year, participants in the Pinewood Derby are encouraged to make their own toy cars and hold races. The derby is a much-anticipated annual Boy Scouting tradition.
