Park ‘N Play fundraiser set On Feb. 28, the Blue Moon Mexican Café in Boulder Run Shopping Center, 327 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff, will sponsor a Community Night to benefit The New Park ‘N Play. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch, dinner, takeout, delivery, or gift card purchases. To participate, mention The New Park ‘N Play or present a Blue Moon Community Night flyer from the website: www.thenewparknplay.com. The New Park ‘N Play, a non-profit organization run by volunteer parents, provides a creative, safe, and clean indoor play center for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Open to all children from ages zero to six, The New Park ‘N Play offers unlimited play from Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from November through April. Celebrate Hockey Across America The Ramsey Hockey Association will participate in the USA Hockey Weekend Across America this month. Special theme days are planned. On Feb. 16, enthusiasts are encourage to wear their favorite hockey jersey to school. Fans are also encouraged to wear their favorite hockey jersey every Friday in February. On Feb. 18, Try Hockey Day, RHA will be at the Ice Vault in Wayne to encourage first-timers who are ages four through 10 to give hockey a try. Loaner skates, sticks, gloves, and helmets will be available. Church activities announced First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey will usher in the Lenten season with a Feb. 21 Shrove Tuesday Pancake Feast. This event will be held at 6 p.m. in the Metzger Room at the church, which is located at 15 Shuart Lane. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. UNICO hosts Texas Hold ‘em Tournament The Greater Ramsey UNICO will host its “That’s Amore Casino Night” March 23at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club. This fundraiser will feature the Texas Hold ‘em Tournament, an auction, a prize basket fundraiser, appetizers, dessert, and beverages. Tickets, which include $25 in chips, are $60. Those who purchase tickets before March 1 will receive an additional $50 in chips. Proceeds will benefit the Ramsey Emergency Services and the Greater Ramsey UNICO. Celebrating Scouts
Franklin Turnpike and Main Street in Ramsey, will host Stop Hunger Now on Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. Setup will begin at 9 a.m. Volunteers are needed to package meals for this international hunger relief agency. Meals include rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix. Each meal costs only 25 cents. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of five years, and transports quickly. These meal packages are shipped around the world to support school programs and crisis relief. Volunteers and monetary donations are needed Stop Hunger Now has been fulfilling its commitment to end hunger for more than 13 years. Since 1998, the organization has coordinated the distribution of food and other lifesaving aid to children and families in countries all over the world. Benevolent Association will participate in the Sixth Annual 2012 New York Giants Snow Bowl to raise money for Special Olympics New Jersey. The event is being held at MetLife Stadium. Donations in support of the Ramsey PBA Local #155 team, or for individual members, may be made online by visiting the Special Olympics website: www.sonj.org and clicking on the Snow Bowl icon at the bottom of the page. The 2012 RPD Snow Bowl Team includes Bryan Gurney, Anthony Fiore, Kevin Cherven, Brian Lyman, Rich Falotico, Rob Hennessy, Jeff Guilfoyle, Bryan Arsi, Craig Weber, Vasili Pieratos, and Mike Parise. Community Blood Drive announced Blood donors participating in the Ramsey Community Blood Drive in cooperation with Community Blood Services will help ensure the transfusion needs of area patients are met. The drive, which will be held Feb. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., is being sponsored by Weichert Realtors/ Ramsey at 5 South Franklin Turnpike. To schedule an appointment, call Community Blood Services at (201) 2513703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation.
