They love the ease of parking, too,” Barbara adds. In the 1950s, Gibling’s opened in Ramsey’s Main Street shopping district. The store quickly found its niche, taking the time to help customers find shoes with a perfect fit. The business moved into the Ramsey Interstate Shopping Center in 1958. In 1976, the original owner sold the business to Barbara, a dedicated employee. Today, Barbara, Store Manager Donna Spence, and staff continue the Gibling’s tradition of personalized customer service for every member of the family from babies getting their first pair of shoes right on up to senior citizens. Gibling’s customers receive one-on-one attention. Everyone is properly measured and fit. “We don’t sell shoes unless they’re needed,” Barbara emphasizes. “We’re very conscious about the fit. We’ll keep a size card on every child who comes in and send reminder notices.” Visit Gibling’s and experience the customer service you deserve. Meet your sales representative: Joan Wilkinson
yckoff resident Joan Wilkinson joined the staff of the Villadom TIMES in 2004, selling advertising space for businesses based in the Township of Mahwah. The following year, she took on sales for Ramsey. “I like talking to people, and I had always considered going into sales,” she explains. One afternoon, while reading Villadom TIMES, her hometown newspaper, Joan spotted the ad for an advertising sales representative that led to her new career. “I enjoy having the opportunity to develop relationships with my customers,” Joan says, adding that some Joan Wilkinson clients have become friends. Before becoming involved at the newspaper, Joan lived in South Carolina, where she taught first grade. When she returned to the tri-state area, she worked as a training consultant for New York Life’s corporate headquarters on Madison Avenue. There, she offered instruction on all in-house programs, including training for new supervisors, tips on how to conduct a performance evaluation, time management, stress management, career development, and managing personal growth. She also traveled the country to present information on a corporate health benefits package. Today, Joan remains involved in training as she provides the Blood-borne Pathogen instruction for the Bergen County Department of Health Services. She regularly presents programs for emergency medical technicians, and police and fire personnel. Joan and her husband, Bob, are the parents of two daughters, Lauren, a first year college student and Tracy, who is attending high school. She and her family enjoy traveling, and have visited Hawaii, Bermuda, and several other islands, where Joan enjoys swimming and relaxing on the beach. In her free time at home, Joan enjoys trying new recipes and baking desserts for family and friends. During the warmer weather, Joan can often be seen riding by the office on her moped. Contact Joan at the main office at (201) 652-0744 or e-mail her at joan@villadom.com.
