Ramsey
Ramsey’s best-known tradition will continue on Saturday, Sept. 8 as Ramsey Day returns to the borough. Each year, this town-wide celebration draws hundreds of visitors from Ramsey and beyond. Many visitors bring their entire families, as there are activities and events for people of all ages. Plans for this year’s Ramsey Day are still being finalized, but are expected to include a parade, music, food, activities, prizes, arts and crafts, and a wide array of entertainment. Tentative plans also call for roving clowns to entertain the crowds, and pony rides and kiddie rides for the youngest visitors. Ramsey Day also allows members of the community to visit a variety of informational booths and learn more about the borough as they mingle with friends and neighbors, and just have fun. The entertainment options also offer something for everyone. In prior years, Ramsey Day organizers have brought in rock and R&B performers, jugglers, balloon artists, dancers, a magician, music for children, and an amazing show featuring live animals. Ramsey Day traditionally concludes with a performance by the Ramsey Wind Symphony. In the event of rain, Ramsey Day will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9. Be sure to check this newspaper for details about Ramsey Day 2012.
Ramsey Day set Lims will pay visit to local church for September 8
Choon and Yen Hee Lim
Choon and Yen Hee Lim, who work with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan’s Aboriginal College Ministry, will pay a visit to the First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey on Sept. 9. The Lims will be in Ramsey during the worship hour at 10 a.m. and afterward in the chapel for a presentation at 11:30 a.m. The Lims serve students from two universities and two colleges in Hualien. The campus ministry center began in their home in 1999 and moved to a new mission center in 2003. Among the programs taking place in the center are college student worship services on Sunday, a Gospel Coffee House on Saturday, a Bible Study group on Friday, and student training courses on weekdays. Additional activities are held on the campuses served by the Aboriginal College Campus Ministry. Taiwan’s aboriginal population is the island’s poorest and most marginalized group. The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey is located at 15 Shuart Lane.
Treasure seekers
Adventure of the Treasure Seekers: Exploring God’s Promises was this year’s Vacation Bible School theme. The joint program of Highlands Presbyterian Church in Allendale and First Presbyterian Church in Ramsey was held at the Ramsey Church. Each day dozens of children had fun digging into the Word of God to discover one of God’s special promises. Top left: Paula Bartow telling a Bible story to the group.
