The Ramsey School District is currently in the midst of a cycle of retirements that will affect the leadership of the district as a whole and at multiple school buildings. Ramsey Superintendent of Schools Dr. Roy Montesano will be retiring at the end of the current school year as will Ramsey High School Principal Richard Lio. In addition, Tisdale School Principal Dr. Susan Morton and Dater School Principal Michael Gratale have already retired. “Both Tisdale and Dater schools have been under the leadership of seasoned, interim principals. Both Larry Hughes and Jim Campbell have superb reputation built on decades of administrative success in high performing North Jersey school districts,” said Ramsey Board of Edu-

the effective articulation within and across academic disciplines among all schools in a K-12 district, Nunziata noted. “The wide range of students’ capabilities and learning styles coupled with the rapidly changing academic technology landscape is driving change not only in what, but how, students learn. The administration and board realize the critical need for implementing of this position again. Over the past decade the reestablishment of this position has been discussed. There have been varied reasons for delaying reinstitution of this position in Ramsey. The recently announced reorganization of our supervisory staff, administrative retirements, and the expertise of incumbent professional staff to fill this role make the 2012-13 school year an ideal time to act. A search is underway for the Smith position,” Nunziata explained. Dr. Montesano, his administrative team, and board of education’s Personnel Committee, are working to ensure a seamless transition.
