Margaret R. “Peg” Greenhalgh, nee Russell, of Wyckoff died March 31. She was 84. Born in Preston, England, she immigrated to the United States in 1940. She was the public assistance director for the Township of Wyckoff for over 20 years. She was a member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church. She is survived by her sons William R. Greenhalgh of Belle Mead and G. Richard Greenhalgh of Lebanon, her John Bernadyn Gladys Cooper granddaughter Amanda, and her sister Irene “Betty” Cain of Hudson, Florida. Merle Gustavson, nee Larsen, of Allendale, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, died April 2. She was 80. Before retiring in 1990, she was a manager with Home Heating in Glen Rock. She was a recipient of the President Roosevelt Award for Kindness to Animals. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Saddle River. She is survived by her children Glenn Clayton Gustavson of Pennsylvania, Keith Jeffery Gustavson of Missouri, and Lori Foose of Warwick, New York, her granddaughter Alexandra Jackson, and her friend of Juan Lopez of Middletown, New York. She was 88. She was a homemaker and had worked as a cook for her husband at The Wodow’s Tavern in Paterson. Before retiring, she was employed at Singer Kearfott. She is survived by her children Geraldine Hoffner Canova of Little Egg Harbor, John Lazzara of Wayne, and Joy Ann Minardi Zuppichini of Spring Lake, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sister Theresa Bollinger of North Haledon. She was predeceased by her husbands Ottaviano “Jerry” Lazzara and Nicholas Di Santo. Arrangements were made by Festa Memorial Funeral Home in Totowa. Helen D. LeGrand of Ramsey died April 4. She was 81. She was a graduate of Saint Vincent’s Academy in Newark, and attended classes at Rutgers University. Prior to her retirement, she was executive secretary to the director of “The Christopher’s” in New York City for over 15 years. She was a member of various Bible study groups for many years. She is survived by her children Robert, Nancy Soboleski, Janet Rocque, Kevin, and Kenneth, and son-inlaw Jay Zischke, nine grandchildren, and her companion Michel. She was 100. Before retiring, she worked as the treasurer for the New York firm Merle Gustavson that built the Empire State Building. She is survived by her brother Matthew Beattie of Delaware; her niece Mae Remer of Clifton; and her nephews Joseph Putz of Hawthorne, Dennis Beattie of Maryland, Alan Beattie of Delaware, and Charles Schoof of North Carolina. She was a homemaker. She served as president of the Valley Auxiliary Bridge Club, and was a member of the Ramsey Bridge Club and the Saint Elizabeth’s Bridge Club. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Hebner of Wyckoff, her granddaughters Julia and Rachel Hebner, and her sister Marilyn Pearce of Duncanville, Texas. She was predeceased by her husband James S. He worked as a mechanical repairman for the Village of Ridgewood for more than 26 years. He was a beekeeper and a member of the Northeast New Jersey Beekeepers Association. He was a member of the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff. He was a member of the Marine Corps League Lakeland Detachment 744 in Oakland, and the Midland Park-Wyckoff VFW Post 7087. He is survived by his wife Jeannette (nee Kole), his sons David A. Stoel and Glenn R. Stoel, his daughter-in-law Sandy Bulkley, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his sons John W. Stoel and Donald Stoel, and his grandchildren Jessica and Ryan. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. He completed his business degree at New York University and received a master’s degree in business from Columbia University. He worked in the financial industry, for the City of New York, and most recently for the Duchess County Board of Realtors. He was a member of the Poughkeepsie Reformed Church. He is survived by his sons William C. Tamm and Christopher W. Tamm, his mother Martha Tamm, and his sister Judy Tamm Morton. He was predeceased by his father John Tamm.
