Page 16 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • September 26, 2012 confused kids who died fighting the biggest bully on the block. Who produced this murderous monstrosity? The first word out is that an Israeli Jew, gathered up money from “100 Jewish businessmen” in California to film the attack on Islam. When this story broke, the online site exploded with the kind of rampant anti-Semitism that had not been seen outside the Muslim world since Kristallnacht. The attack on “the Jews” turned out to be a big lie in the tradition of Josef Goebbels. The real producer is now said to be a nominal Coptic Christian businessman who has already been convicted for serious financial fraud and sentenced to probation, aided by a self-styled Vietnam veteran who makes part of his living training right-wing “Christian” militia groups in California. Maybe that information is also part of somebody’s big lie, but the fact that whoever perpetrated this outrage tried to frame “the Jews” for it seems to fit the profile of a fascist. The update turned the groundswell on the Internet from demands that we dump Israel to demands that we bomb various Muslim countries. Both ideas appeal only to idiots. As we close the contemporary narrative, the Muslim world is still aflame, peace efforts have been set back for years, six brave Americans are dead, and one perpetrator is walking around with a funny hat and his face wrapped in bandages while the other answers his door wearing nothing but his underwear and a handgun. The sort of vicious fools who shoot Sikhs because they think they are Muslims may see this as a freedom of speech issue, but it is not. It is a deliberate attempt to get Americans killed to further the interests of third parties in a protracted war with Islam that the president and most Americans have already indicated that they do not want. Here is a parallel event that fascists probably know about from poring over books about their ultimate hero: Gleiwitz. On Aug. 31, 1939, a detachment of Nazi SS troopers in Polish uniforms seized the German radio station at Gleiwitz near the Polish border with Germany. A drugged German-Polish citizen who had been forced to wear a Polish uniform was dragged along with them, shot dead, and left behind as visible but silent evidence of a fake Polish invasion. The SS men then made a Polish-language broadcast announcing that the Poles had come to take over Germany and fled. This fake broadcast and convenient murder were portrayed to the world as Poland’s attempt to invade Germany. That was the way Hitler did things. It should not be the way Americans do things. Like Hitler, the alleged perpetrator of “The Innocence of Muslims” was not born in the country he tried to subvert. Deportation is mandatory. It’s tough if the people there do not like him. The incident I see as scrap irony was done for the benefit of Stalin. “Operation Snow” describes a more detailed, but less dramatic, intrigue that explains not how, but why the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor when they understood they had no hope of conquering the United States -- and did not intend to try. The American people and the Japanese people were both manipulated by foreign interests hostile to their own populations and cultures. Attempts at attack warnings were deliberately ignored. Last-minute peace initiatives, including one by U.S. Ambassador to Japan Joseph K. Grew, with the hazy support of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, were quietly throttled by jealous, squabbling, or traitorous people who were born here and held responsible federal jobs, though their real loyalties were elsewhere. America cannot afford people like that in the American government. Neither can we afford to have our foreign policy influenced by dummies who do not understand that Muslims revere Jesus as the Prince of Peace; extol the Virgin Mary and Miriam, the sister of Moses, as two of the Four Great Women of Islam; probably have the best record of any religion on Earth for racial tolerance; and worship the same God as the Christians and Jews do. The anti-Islamic propaganda that goes into print in modern America bears a curious and dangerous resemblance to the anti-Semitic propaganda of the Third Reich. Belief, in either case, is based on wanton ignorance and the fact that losers always need somebody to hate. The fact that the cowards who produced this awful movie instinctively blamed it on “the Jews” when they got into trouble indicates their absolute lack of moral fiber and knowledge of the history of any religion, including Christianity as reflected in the New Testament rather than in the ranting of ignorant racist fanatics who equate being saved with being Aryan. Let us remember that the movie actors did not know what they were doing. Let us indict the producer and the director as accessories to first degree murder or, failing that, treason. They can wave Old Glory all they want and spout religious bigotry until decent people vomit, but treason against the United States is the name for what they did. People who hate me may think I made this happen to publicize my latest book. In fact, I wrote my latest book, in part, to make sure this sort of thing would not happen again. A traitor who wraps himself in the American flag is still a traitor. The people who made and launched this film were traitors to America.
Scrap irony is the magnetic detritus of a life spent reading and examining facts as opposed to wallowing in prejudices and bromides. The same week “Operation Snow” -- my book about the conspiracy behind Pearl Harbor -was published, the TV and online news ran a story about an event that is astounding in the similarity of its goal. This news story featured an attempt to embroil the United States in a protracted war that most Americans do not want. While the plot is similar, the cast of characters is entirely different. An online source recently released segments of an awful movie, “The Innocence of Muslims,” that offered a deliberately blasphemous view of the Prophet Muhammad. The film was obviously produced to provoke outrage in the Islamic world. The probable intent was to produce increased American involvement in fighting Muslims. This is a war that President Obama and the majority of the American people said they do not want to fight. Now we are reinforcing our embassies because of a bad movie. With 46 million Americans living at or below the poverty line, we have to get our priorities away from playing the World’s Policeman and get back to making America work for Americans. This film was obviously produced as a blatant insult to Islam. The third-string actors recruited for the film were told the movie would be called “Desert Warriors” and that it was set 2,000 years in the past -- before Muhammad walked the Earth. The name “Muhammad” never cropped up in the shooting script. However, the version that was released on YouTube was dubbed in Egyptian Arabic to portray Muhammad as a lecher and a fake, and his early followers as thugs. The hapless actors and actresses, who never realized they had been recruited to make a deliberately blasphemous movie, are said to be in hiding. But anybody who remembers what happened when Salman Rushie insulted Muhammad’s wives in what was intended to be a dream sequence will not be surprised to learn that drastic riots broke out all over the Muslim world. U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, an intelligent and widely respected diplomat, was probably the first and most prominent victim. Stevens was killed in a terroristic attack along with three other Americans in Benghazi. He was trying to help other Americans and foreign-born staff members escape from the U.S. Consulate when he was asphyxiated due to a fire started by rocket-propelled grenades. Men like this are too good to waste. Ironically, Stevens was brought to a Libyan hospital by people who had no idea who he was and a Libyan doctor tried to save his life. Riots in Afghanistan also took the lives of two U.S. Marines, and probably helped sustain the hostility to the American presence that had killed hundreds of other Americans. Anybody brave enough to be a U.S. Marine in times like these is a precious natural resource. Some of the Muslim rioters also died. While the Beer Hall Boys around America may shrug off their deaths, people around the world may well feel that the dead Muslims were brave if

Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor: I would like to thank you and your staff for the coverage Villadom TIMES gave our Surf and Turf Dinner benefit held at Nellie’s Place in Waldwick. The dinner turned out to be a good time for all, and a success for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. My daughter Kristine, Christopher Roche from Nellie’s Place, and I planned the event about three months ago. As we worked on the fundraiser, we did not really know what response to expect from the community. Nellie’s gave us the support and booked a back room that seats 90 people. The outcome was terrific! People from Waldwick and the surrounding area came to enjoy dinner help raise money to find a cure for Crohn’s and colitis.
Fundraiser was success
I extend my sincere appreciation to all who attended and donated their time and funds. Most of all, I want to thank Nellie’s Place -- especially Christopher, Karen, Nellie, and Joe. The tremendous staff did a wonderful job. The foundation raised $2000 that day, but we still have a long way to go. Our next focus will be on the Team Challenge, the Las Vegas half-marathon set for Dec. 2. This year, our local goal is $10,000. We are about halfway there, so additional support is welcome. On behalf of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, I thank you very much for any support you can give. To donate, or for more information, visit http://tinyurl. com/bqab779. Eric LaPorta Waldwick

(continued from page 5) and made maps for the Bergen County Historical Society, the Rockland Historical Society, and the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society. She mentored the local historical societies, and created maps for many of them. She also produced maps and drawings for several books. Some of the maps can still be found at local historical societies, some are out of print, and one -- a map of Ridgewood drafted in 1994 -- was never printed. To ensure that the maps would always be available, 16 of them have been printed in full size and bound in book form along with biographical material about Tholl. Funding for the book was provided by the George Turrell Memorial Fund and a matching grant. Turrell and Tholl were kindred spirits -- perfectionists who were dedicated to preserving historic buildings. The matching grant is administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs through a General Operating Support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a Division of Cultural Affairs in the Department of State. “The Maps of Claire K. Tholl” will be placed in local libraries and history and genealogy research centers. A limited number will be for sale. The Upper Saddle River Library is located at 245 Lake Street in Upper Saddle River. For further information, call Kay Yeomans at (201) 327-2236.
