Borough Movie Night set The Ho-Ho-Kus Recreation Commission and the HoHo-Kus Chamber of Commerce will host a Movie Night on Friday, Sept. 7 at the Ho-Ho-Kus Town Green. This year’s event will begin at 7 p.m. (Rain date: Sept. 14.) This Friday night movie will tell the tale of a fashion forward cat. The band, Kangaroo Jones, will be on hand to provide the entertainment. Police offer announcements via Twitter The Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department is now featuring special announcements that will be available to the public via Twitter. The link to Twitter may be found on the department’s website, www.ho-ho-kuspolice.com. Messages will cover various non-emergency situations, such as road closings and delayed school openings. Emergency information and other situations that affect the community will still be disseminated via Reverse 911. Chamber to meet at studio The Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce’s Sept. 11 meeting will be held at Haviland Photography at 22 Sheridan Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus, at 6:15 p.m. Meetings are typically the second Tuesday evening of the month at 6:15 p.m. at the Ho-Ho-Kus Train Station, unless otherwise announced. The group is invited to the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce’s multi-chamber event at Greenhouse Golf in Waldwick on Thursday, Sept. 20. Members are encouraged to save the date, more information will follow. Seniors plan fall events Space Historian Joe Lennox will offer a presentation on Apollo 13 to the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors on Sept. 25. The seniors group meets th in the Hermitage Education Build- ing at 335 Franklin Turnpike. Beverages and desserts are served at noon, and program will begin at 1 p.m. Residents age 55 and up are welcome to attend. Upcoming events planned include a trip to the Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, New York for an Oktoberfest on Oct. 24; the Fiesta on Nov. 13, and an outing to Hunterdon Hills on Dec. 3. Car Wash announced The eighth grade class at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School will hold a Car Wash on Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. at the school located at 70 Lloyd Road in Ho-HoKus. (Rain date: Sept. 22.) Proceeds from this event will help defray the cost of the students’ trip to Philadelphia and graduation expenses. This edition is a revision of the 1975 “Ho-Ho-Kus Hostesses” cookbook. The updated version contains favorite recipes, some of which are over 100 years old, from residents, past and present U.S. Presidents, the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, and the Hermitage. Library news The Worth Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus has announced patrons may now download books to their Kindle from home via www.beateaudio.org. Valid library cards are required. All instructions are on the website. The library has a number of language CDs, DVDs, and flash drives for patrons who wish to learn a new language. Programs for adults are available in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and Italian. For children, there are programs in English, Korean, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. The Muzzy BBC language DVDs for children are available in Spanish, ESL, German, French, Chinese, and Italian. The library also has Muzzy Interactive Language, Games and Exercises on CD, in Spanish and French.
