Letters to the Editor
(continued from page 18) Building and Grounds Committee and has made accessibility a high priority in his first term. Anthony is a lifelong resident of Waldwick and will soon graduate from Ramapo College. He has shown intense interest in giving back to the community that provided him with the opportunities he has enjoyed. There are some difficult challenges in the years ahead, and we feel this team of caring and dedicated people is ready to meet them head on. They will look to maintain the quality of life we expect and deserve as residents of Waldwick at a reasonable cost. Please join us in supporting Chuck, Greg, and Anthony on Election Day. Tom Giordano, Mayor; and Anita Bozzo, Don Sciolaro, Andy Brennecke, and Frank Palladino, Council Members Waldwick Dear Editor: It is with great pride as the former superintendent of Ho-Ho-Kus Public School (1975-91) that I urge voters to support Mary Ellen (Dooley) Nye’s reelection and Cinzia Parise D’Iorio’s election to the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education. Exceptionally bright, highly motivated, and personally compelling, I vividly remember Mary Ellen as one of the most impressive students during my 16-year tenure as superintendent. My wife, Janet, a retired Ho-Ho-Kus School teacher, and I have maintained contact with Mary Ellen and have watched with admiration how she has flourished and realized her early potential, first as an attorney in New York, then as a parent involved in school activities, and now as a member of the board of education. As a parent, Cinzia D’Iorio has been deeply involved in Ho-Ho-Kus School activities for more than a decade, including serving as president of the Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation. Her intelligence, dedication, and positive attitude are readily apparent. In conversations with Mary Ellen and Cinzia, it is clear that both are fully committed to perpetuating the long-time core values of Ho-Ho-Kus School: high academic standards, an enriched curriculum, a personalized education for each child, and a collaborative community/school environment. Further, Mary Ellen and Cinzia understand that the appropriate role of a board member is not to run the school, but rather, to see that the school is operated effectively. I endorse Mary Ellen Nye and Cinzia D’Iorio for election to the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education with enthusiasm and without reservation. John C. Woodbury Ho-Ho-Kus Dear Editor: Ho-Ho-Kus needs experienced, creative, even-minded, and hard-working public servants. That is why we ask residents of Ho-Ho-Kus to join us in supporting the reelection of school board candidate Mary Ellen Nye and the election of Cinzia D’Iorio. We have both had the pleasure of volunteering and working alongside Mary Ellen Nye and Cinzia D’Iorio. Their work ethic and willingness to commit time away from their families for the betterment of our community and its residents is admirable and commendable. They volunteer countless hours each year for no compensation or fringe benefits, no pension or health care benefits, simply to make a positive impact on our community’s children, parents, and grandparents. We write this letter to you today, one of us as a 42year resident of Ho-Ho-Kus (Gina) and the other a current trustee on the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education (John). This letter expresses our opinion as parents and residents of the community, not as a school board member; it has not been authorized by or written on behalf of the Ho-Ho-Kus School Board. Please join us in voting on Nov. 6 to reelect Mary Ellen Nye, a current school board trustee, and to elect Cinzia D’Iorio, former Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation president. John and Gina Buffa Ho-Ho-Kus Dear Editor: Having known council members Chuck Farricker and Greg Bjork for many years, I have seen firsthand how much they do for the people of Waldwick. The vast majority of what they do in helping others goes unnoticed by many because they don’t call attention to themselves and their good deeds. I’d like to take this opportunity to call that attention to them and ask all Waldwick voters to join me in voting for them for Waldwick Council on Nov. 6. We are fortunate to have them working for us as council members and they are very deserving of our support. Jim Toolen, Mayor Emeritus Waldwick
