October 24, 2012 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 21 Labyrinth dedicated at Upper Saddle River church Board seats (continued from page 6) Weber has lived in Saddle River since 2004, and currently has two children in the school district. The candidate is a graduate of Rutgers College, where she earned a degree in computer science. She currently works as a product portfolio executive with a strong management consulting background. She has served on the Wandell Education Foundation for three years, and has been a class mom for nine years. Weber is also a member of the Wandell Technology Committee and the Eighth Grade Graduation Committee, and a volunteer for various other activities. “I have a great deal of passion regarding our middle school arrangement,” Weber said. “Over the next few years, Saddle River will be considering alternatives for our middle school and I would like to be part of that evaluation and decision-making process. I think that my background and skills can be of tremendous value in a thoughtful evaluation and assessment. “Given the current economics for the education system in New Jersey, I would like to continue to explore additional shared services for our district without compromising our individual district’s strength or increasing our tax burden. I believe Saddle River should continue to influence the legislature and state education department to best serve our children, as well as look closer to home for opportunities to expand our services while managing the associated costs.” Weber said she would like to collaborate with and support the teachers and staff in ensuring that the curriculum equips students with everything they need to compete globally in the 21st century. She advocates the use of technology as an enabler for education. “I am also interested in building a stronger partnership between the school district and the community. I believe that by creating committees and task forces that include staff, parents, children, and other stakeholders, we can more effectively engage and communicate to the community,” she said. “As a huge proponent of collaboration, I believe good ideas come from many different places and those ideas can be made better by an effective collaborative process.” The Church of the Presentation dedicated its new labyrinth, an interfaith, meditative tool, on Sunday, Oct. 14. Father Bob Stagg, pastor, presided over the dedication, which was attended by parishioners and friends, including Ryan Johnson, the Eagle Scout candidate who was instrumental in creating the walkway from the parking area to the labyrinth. The labyrinth was constructed with donated funds. A Peace Walk will be held at the labyrinth at 7 p.m. on Oct. 29. The community and families of those who have loved ones serving in the military are invited. The church will also offer two opportunities to learn about spiritual growth on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. and on Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m. Both meetings will take place in the Gathering Room South. Spiritual directors and those receiving spiritual direction will share their experiences with the program. Questions such as: Where is God? Why is this happening to me? and I feel like I don’t belong in church will be explored. Church of the Presentation is located at 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Call (201) 327-1313.
