It was a sunny, perfect morning for creating masterpieces, although a bit brisk at dawn. The 210 participants ranged from pre-K to eighth grade. Twenty-eight of the organization’s 113 members assisted the artists and their parents, registering the children, doling out paints, cleaning the tables used for painting, cleaning brushes, and organizing the finished works on the drying tables. Halloween music provided the right mood for the creative process. One poster was judged Best in Show, and the remaining paintings were judged for first, second, and third place in each grade category. As is the tradition, the finished works are currently being displayed in the Allendale downtown, where they will remain until the weekend before Halloween. The posters will be returned to the artists on Halloween night during the Costume Parade. The Costume Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Allendale’s Brookside School. The parade is open to all Allendale residents: children and children at heart alike. Prizes will be distributed for the Poster Painting Contest and for the Costume Contest. Refreshments will be provided.
