Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • October 3, 2012 Waldwick An ambitious Waldwick pre-teen has her eye set on the National American Miss crown and is asking residents and businesses in her hometown to help her get there. Madison Scheideler, an incredibly poised sixth grader at the Waldwick Middle School, introduced herself to the Waldwick Mayor and Council last week and hopes to attend other town functions to pitch her cause. Her current task is to sell advertising for the state’s pageant program book and thus qualify for a college scholarship. She is also seeking gift certificates to contribute to JULIEDANCE, a non-profit organization which benefits pediatric cancer research, care and treatment. JULIEDANCE is administered by Miss Patti’s School of Dance, where Madison has been a student for eight years. Madison is also working on being chosen as the state Resident seeks help in quest for American Miss title ambassador. She was the first runner up in the Miss Personality component of the state’s competition this summer, and came in the top 20 out of 200 participants in the overall pageant. Rather than a modeling or beauty pageant, the contest is promoted as a means for participants to gain poise, self-confidence, and valuable interview and communication skills, giving them a competitive edge to succeed later on in life in whatever field they may choose, from modeling to business. An energetic 11-yearold, Madison is active in the local Girl Scout troop and plays percussion drums in the school band. Anyone wishing to contribute to Madison’s fundraising success may call 201-445-3022 for further information. Madison Scheideler in her NJ American Miss attire.
