Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • October 3, 2012 The Allendale Chamber of Commerce will present its Annual Festival Day and Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The popular event, which will again include pony rides and a petting zoo, is chaired by Joe Blondin of the Allendale Ambulance Corps. This year’s festival will feature live music and performances all day at Center Stage and on the East Stage. The car show, chaired by Nickie Lisella of Terrie O’Connor Realtors adds to the enjoyment of all attendees. The festival features vendors, crafts, food, giveaways, exhibits, clowns and more. Activities include a pet parade, magician, an obstacle course, children’s live entertainment, games, presentations by community organizations, exhibits, face painting, a Moonwalk and bounce house and pumpkin painting. Children can visit all of the attractions for just one $5 donation. As always, the borough will be looking beautiful thanks to the decorations being provided by Rohsler’s Allendale Nursery and Florist. Be there at 10 a.m. when the Street Fair begins on West Allendale Avenue and antique and classic cars are on display in the NJ Transit parking lot. Over 100 vendors and community organizations will be participating this year. Chamber member Susan Fun for the whole family at Festival Day and Car Show Center Stage at 11:30 a.m. followed by the B Sharp Band at 12:30 p.m. Bill Stevens Karate and Fitness will offer a demonstration at 1:45 p.m. followed the Red Apple Rest Band at 2 p.m. Bill Craig and Mike Casey of Mungo Park Band will perform at 3 p.m.; and Bagpiper Fran Raftery will close the festivities at 4 p.m. On the East Stage, the Matthew Carl Project Band will perform at 11:30 a.m.; magic tricks will be featured at 12:30 and 2 p.m.; Stretch the Silly Man will be on at 1 p.m.; and Pete Visalli will perform at 3 p.m. Participants are invited to enter the Pie Contest, which will be judged at noon at Terrie O’Connor Realtors. At 2 p.m., the Scarecrow Contest entries will be judged at Bank of America. Car Show awards will be presented at 3 p.m. The Car Show, held in the commuter parking lot beyond the clock tower at the end of Allendale Avenue, features antique and classic cars and accessory vendors. Free parking will be available throughout the day at Crestwood Lake and Guardian Angel RC Church, with a shuttle bus taking fairgoers to the festival courtesy Children enjoying last year’s Festival Day. Frankel of SLF Associates will open the festivities with her rendition of the National Anthem, immediately followed by a performance of “Awesome 80s” by the Saddle River Youth Theatre. Irish Dancing will be on stage at 10:35 a.m., and the Pet Parade will follow at 11 a.m. (Participants should register at 10:30 a.m. at Center Stage) Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: most patriotic, best dressed, smallest, most vocal, largest, shortest tail, longest ears, and best trick performer. Animals will be blessed immediately afterwards by Father Michael Allen of Trinity Church. The Northern Highlands Regional High School Guitar Club will entertain on the of the Allendale Community for Mature Living. Trinity sent out a call to all residents with a mailer asking for their donations of non-perishable food items. All donors will receive a free gift. “There are many people in our area who need assistance in these difficult economic times. When a community comes together to help, it makes a significant impact,” said Wyckoff resident Paralee Restivo, who organized Trinity’s CFA collections. Over the past year, Trinity has set a monthly theme for the Center for Food Action to emphasize that food donations are needed all year long.
