Police accept Reverse 911 updates Ho-Ho-Kus Police Chief John Wanamaker reminds residents who are not currently on the borough’s Reverse 911 list to call the police desk at (201) 652-1700 to have their contact information added. Anyone with a change of information or a new phone number is invited to call. The borough’s Reverse 911 system allows the municipality to relay important information to residents via telephone. While many residents’ home numbers are listed as part of the Reverse 911 system, citizens also have the option of registering their cell phone numbers so they may receive messages when they are away from home. Fooder to issue report on water utility Eric G. Fooder Jr. will present a report on the Ho-HoKus Water Utility at the Nov. 27 council meeting. The session will be held at 8 p.m. in borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Fooder, a Village of Ridgewood employee, is a licensed water operator who has beeen hired to assist Ho-Ho-Kus on a temporary basis while James Montag is on a medical leave of absense. Meeting schedule announced The Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Council will hold one meeting during the month of November. A combined work session and public session will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27. This meeting will be held at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus. Nursery school holds Open House The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School
will host an Open House on Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and their preschoolers are invited to stop in to see the classrooms and meet with the teachers and current coop members. Classes for two-, three- and four-year-old children, and Mommy & Me, open to children 18 to 24 months old, are available for the 2013-14 school year. The nursery school offers various educational enrichment programs, including music and foreign languages. Extended day options are also available. The school provides a unique co-op opportunity for parents who wish to assist in their child’s classroom. Parents may also choose non-participating co-op status. Story time program expanded The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, located at 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus, has added a 3:15 p.m. Thursday session to its children’s story time program. This new story time will be held in addition to the programs scheduled on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 11:45 a.m. The program is recommended for children ages three and up. Club plans Bridge Marathon The Ho-Ho-Kus Woman’s Club invites bridge players to take part in the club’s Bridge Marathon. Games are held at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station on the second Monday of each month through May. The $25 entry fee supports the club’s many charities. Master plan information sought Local residents are being asked for their assistance with the history element of the Ho-Ho-Kus Master Plan, which is now being updated. Planning Board Chairman/Borough Historian John Hanlon requests details about Ho-Ho-Kus history and relevant photos. Members of the public who wish to contribute information may call (201) 652-4400, extension 137, or visit historyplan@ho-ho-kusboro.com. Library news The Worth Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus has announced patrons may now download books to their Kindle from home via www.beateaudio.org. Valid library cards are required. All instructions are on the website. The library has a number of language CDs, DVDs, and flash drives for patrons who wish to learn a new language. Programs for adults are available in English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and Italian. Children’s programs include English, Korean, Japanese, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. The Muzzy BBC language DVDs for children are available in Spanish, ESL, German, French, Chinese, and Italian. The library also has Muzzy Interactive Language, Games and Exercises on CD, in Spanish and French. Ask about “Shmoop,” a computer-based tutorial for the SAT, PSAT, ACT, or AP exams.
